Question remote key replcement?????

my remote keys don't work... opened them check the voltage and it's a normal (from) my understanding 3V if i replace the remote entry keys from lexus-parts.com do i have to do anything else or will it work staright out of the package. Lexus quoted me like over $1000 CAD or like about $700 US for a new set... are they ripping me off? I don't mind just walking u to the car and turning the key but why should I if i can just buy new keys . Thanx in advance.

Hey man,

Hop on ebay - they have one for sale on there right now. Not for sure on what year it is, but I know it is a hell of a lot cheaper than $1000!!

Peace

Sorry for posting it in the wrong forum.... and i just wanted to know will the button work straight out of the package or will i need to take it to the "lexus stealer"... (quoting a fellow member) to have it programmed... and if all u need to do is order one and it comes working already I wouldn't even sweat it.... and thanx for replying Dx3

Exclamation Don't take it to the dealer!

Hey, don't take it to the dealer!

I just bought a new remote master key, a non-remote valet key, and a wallet key from lexus-parts. The remote and valet keys should have the transponder work right out of the box, but you do need to program the remote. Lexus-parts is not allowed to give you programming instructions for security reasons, but I found the instructions by searching on CL. It's very easy and takes just a minute or two.

By the way, lexus-parts offered a GB on keys in case you didn't know. When you are about to check out you type a discount code. I think it was 909RK. Saves lots of money.

They offer a great service and price but are bound by rules from the manufacturer as far as security reasons I'm sure. That's why they asked for my ID and insurance to be faxed to verify I am the new owner of my car.

I am at work right now, but I will search for the links to the instructions and the group buy threads and post asap.

Talking Links!

By the way, the keys that lexus-parts sells are actual lexus parts which is important for the keys with transponders to be able to start the car with them.

This is the group buy posting link:

I am still searching for the programming link. I have it saved at home for sure if I can't find it.

wow that was really usefull.... I hope the problem with mine is just the keys and not the receiver.... cause the volts on the battery are normal but the voltage doesn't drop once i press the button on the keys as is suppose to... so that's why i figured the keys are faulty. anyways thanks alot for the information. it was very very informative.
