Unhappy 92 ls 400 pioneer cd changer malfunction

My cd changer quit working during the very cold winter months. Initially I thought that maybe the prolonged freezing temperatures was the cause. This does not seem to be the case. I have a 92' ls 400 with a pioneer system. When I turn on the cd, I get a "err" (error) message. Could there be a simple solution like a reset procedure,( I tried disconnecting both the changer and the battery ) or has it aged and needs replacement. Sending it out for repair would cost about $300.00 ( as per custom stereo shop ). Please give me any ideas or suggestions.

I don't think its the cold weather. I live in Phoenix, and mine does the same thing intermitently. Do you play CD-R's in it?

I have a 92' LS400 w/pioneer cd changer and it is a pain, i would like to change it out with a changer that will work directly with my stock head unit, no RF mods. Any suggestions?

The only option to plug and play would work if you just get a Lexu CD changer from dealers. On the other hand a good shop can do a couple of minor mods and install you a cheaper, and better aftermarket unit.

If it's a bad capacitor in your CD changer then the weather would cause the problem.

Take it to a TV repair shop and have them replace the CAPS, I don't think that will cost $300.
