Default 1994 Ls 400 Cd Changer

My CD changer died and I'm interested in getting some advice on replacing it. My Lexus dealer says the Pioneer trunk-mounted changer is a factory item that costs $525 just for the part. I'm wondering if there's a way to acquire one for less money.

I know I can go to an aftermarket Pioneer changer, but it requires its own remote control to operate it and I'd much rather figure out a way to operate the new one from the existing dashboard controls.

Anyone have some wisdom for me on this? Thanks.

Frankly it's a 12 year old system , forget it and install a pioneer MP3 head unit , gives you more songs on a single disc than a CD 6 stacker and it's also a huge improvement quality wise in the sound , one of the best things I ever did !!
Also it's probably cheaper in the short run let alone the long run !!

The Pioneer CD changer on my '93 started getting intermittent with the ERR code at startup, then low volume. I pulled it, and sent it to these guys in Florida

http://www.carstereohelp.com/

and they returned it good as new. With a 12 month warranty also (which I couldn't find on eBay). Cost was $275, with quick turnaround of about 6 days after they got it. First class outfit--they do work for Lexus dealers--give them a look.

I got one from a salvage yard. I got the head unit and the cd. I don't need the cd changer since I already got one. Let me know if you are interested. It's still in the bubble wrap from when I bought it.
