Default SC400 Head Unit HELP needed

Hello,

I just got a Premier head unit, a Indash Monitor from Visonik and a dvd/mp3/wma/cdr player. I also bought a Toyota wiring harness.

I take everything out. and WHAM it hits me ... WTF are all these harnesses for? I count about 4. The toyota harness came with only two.

Does any one have the color codes and/or know what goes to what?

Or does anyone know if they sell the right harness's?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Darrin

The SC's have factory amps in the rear. You need to run line-level (rca outputs) to these inputs to make it function with the stock speakers/amps.

However, you may have problems matching the levels up. The factory headunit puts out a lower than normal signal.

So...with that said... you will need a few more things to get the job done. http://209.125.175.29/lexusstereo.html that will help a ton.

You may need new amps and speakers as well.

Good Luck.

i had the same problem when i put my Alpine IVA in my car. i didn't use the rca outputs to run my speakers. just tapped into the wires from the factory amp, so we used the exisiting factory wires to receive signals. i actually changed my harness to a non-lexus one so that i can change head units like any other car without having to worry about my cutting wires.

Save yourself the headache(now and later) and jus re-wire the whole system.

I agree with Emerald. If you change out the headunit, you might as well run two pair of wires into the doors from the dash. The SC is by far the easiest car to pull wires into the doors because of the double hinge system that leaves a huge gap. Then you can ditch the stock amps and get what you paid for.
