Default JL 12' or 15'???

hello.

i can't decide between JL 12w3 and 15w3.....

i would like to go with 15w6 or 15w3, but is it too much bass??? of course, it's 15' so it can handle more watts. also i need to custom a sealed box and it's $$$$$.

otherwise, i already have one 12w3 in a sealed box, but when i pushed it with xtant 202m, bass was kindda weak and now i have a bigger car compare to prelude.

any1 tried 15' JL???????

there is no way i am getting 2 JL subs, i just one either 12' or 15'.

i am thinking when if i get 15w6 i will push it with xtant 2100 that i have already.

ps> looking for a dvd..any1 selling?

I would stick with the 12w3 if it were me. I would upgrade the amp, maybe use the xtant 2100. W3s can handle a good amount of power. w6s are nice too, but they run best in trios because they are a 6 ohm sub. I agree with epk, that you should take the factory sub out for better sound. Building a new box is not difficult if you have some decent carpentary skills. If you need help post here or look at jlaudio.com

Thumbs up 15W3

Blitz - If ya go with a single 15" ( & I agree with Sirs about the W6 working better in multiple numbers although I've run a W6 mono by paralleling the voice coils & then bridging the amp for a 1.5 ohm load ), try the 15W3. My youngest son has one ( for now - soon to pick up another ) in a small sealed box with a RF Punch G18002 amp on it & it will hurt you!! And if he can't tear it up, no one can!!

if you already have a 12w3 in a sealed box, i say port that bad boy. 2.75 ft3 tuned to about 24 hz (14 sq inches of port about 20 inches long) would yield a nice flat response. if you want to compete, try the same 2.75 ft3 enclosure tuned to about 50 hz (70 sq inches of port about 20 inches long) would get a nice +9db peak at 56hz.

if that is still not loud enough try the 15w3 in a 4.5 ft3 box tuned to 22 hz (20 sq inches of port 21 inches long) to get some wickedly low bass. for competition try the same 4.5 ft3 box tuned to 52 hz (120 sq inches of port 18 inches long) to get a +10db peak at 56 hz.

all of these figures were confirmed with winisd and lspcad (both measurements within a couple percent difference)

forgot to add, 200 watts off of that xtant 202m is not doing that w3 justice. feed it a clean 5-600 watts and you'll be amazed (although im not a big jl fan, ive heard many good set ups with em). but just to make sure, you have the 12w3-d2 right? cause i know your amp is only 4 ohm mono stable. if you have the 12w3-d4, then you are most likely running in 8 ohm mono, which means you are only getting about 100 watts out of that amp. if you are going to keep that amp as your bass amp, i would advise against gettin a w6 just because of wiring issues.
