Sub Amp Hook up Problem HELP !
I have a (& SC 400 with the non Nak- Pioneer system. I had a 8" JL sub built in a box that looks like a arm rest in the car back seat. I am running it with a Legacy combo LLC and crossover and Adcom 180 watt bridged amp. . When it was first intalled it had vey faint limited power getting to the sub. You could see it moving like it maybe was only getting 25- 50 watts. I took it back to Hi Fi buys and they pulled both the amp and sub out, tested it and they were both OK. . It was Banging and moving the speaker 3 times what it was at first. They thought they found what was the problem cause was a crimped speaker wire from the amp in the trunk to the sub in the car. It then played fine all the way home with no problems. I went back out about 5 hours later and it then stared to play low volume again. I connected a direct bypass wire from the trunk to the sub and it had the same problem. I also get a thunk noise that I get both when it is playing good and bad. Not on on and off switching but, when the volume is tuned up it thumps but no noise when playing good or bad.
They connected the LLC up at the factory Sub speaker terminals. OH yeah I bought a new LLC of the same kind and hooked it up today. Same problem.
Anybody know whats wrong, and is this the right connection point. My factory sub seems to sound like crap worst now too but it may just be that I got use to the JL 8 inside the car.

dude are you serious? I was giving you honest no "wise a$$" information. Why would you want both the stock sub and your new sub running together? For real try it. Unhook the stock sub and let your aftermarket sub run alone. And as for giving wrong information....................Come on man. Have you totally torn out the SC sound system yourself? Have you installed and FM modulated changer with the stock headunit? Have you installed an LLC for a new amp and sub yourself? have you added an aftermarket deck along with new door speakers, along with 2 new amps, one for the sub and one for the speakers? Probably not! But I have and I feel that with me going through all of those procedures and issues, I am somewhat able to respond to the audio questions that are asked on this forum. I do remember 1 time where I was totally wrong on something although I dont remember the subject or post. So what are you going to do? shoot me? No! So maybe I shouldnt have replied to your post at all BUT NOBODY had replied and I though I would tell you something that might help! Thats what you wanted right? I wasnt upset at first but now I am. Don't come and criticize someone when you yourself can't figure out what is going on with your own system! I think that is it! So please next time think before you post something like this......

One more thing, find a post where I was completely wrong as you say and show it to me. I have no problem accepting the fact that I might be wrong. If I am wrong about something, I will admit it, apologize for my bad information and try to do a better job the next time. And you cant just say I was wrong about something, you have to give evidence as to why I was wrong and what the correct answer would be. This will be a learning experience for both us and the forum.

Some advice:
1) Pirate, I think the only problem here is that your response was not really clear enough, maybe another sentence of explanation would have prevented this. I think your intentions were good.
2) jgscott, pirate is right about what he suggested, assuming you have your stock sub still hooked up, you need to disconnect it so that the LLC is the only thing hooked to the output of your stock amp and see what you get. In the future, let's not blow off the handle so quickly please. Ask for clarification first. This is a Lexus-related website, and we try to uphold standards appropriate for Lexus owners. Sometimes we do joke around a bit, and allowances should be made for that if it is relatively harmless.
3) Pirate400 has been helpful in providing answers on this forum. The personal attack on him is VERY unwelcome.
4) Play nice.
Jerry.

Ok no harm meant. It read like a smart *** joke. As I explained my hook up was to my stock sub. Depending on how you read the responce it seemed like just disconnect everything and it wont play at all but, you won't have the problem either. Im sorry for firing back but.......... I called it like I read it.
Egin Ear it was not a attack. I think you saw what I saw. Think about it. If someone said my horn blows when I cut on the lights. And someone said just disconnect the lights.........
" Unhook the connection clipping in to the stock sub. " Pirate my be 100 % but it read like it read.
Thanks for clearing the issue. I am not one to attack but like I said I took it like it reads. Its cool Pirate. Thanks, my fault for misunderstanding.
