I need a car I can take to the track and auto-cross but still drive to work occasionally.

a cayman gts or 911 gt3 would do it?
I'd probably do a 911 GT3 for both track use and some road use. Yeah, yeah, 911's are dime a dozen - but you're not buying the car for others, you're buying for yourself. Can't get any better than a GT3 from a driver oriented perspective.

Yes this guy is really good. He used to work for Toyota as a master technician for like 20 years so he knows what he’s talking about.

he now has his own shop in Chicago and his YouTube channel has taken off quite well.

I believe this is also his 3rd lc500 video, the guy truly loves them.

I like this guy too...Easy, down to earth breakdown and explanation of the build quality and functionality of our LC...I learn something different everytime.

So true...The only problem is finding a 911 GT3 at a reasonable price.

Absolutely wonderful and informative. I am so glad Lexus built this car. It puts BMW "quality" to shame. I would never buy a Beamer. Never. I don't car how d=fast they are. etc. They are money pits. Just a step up from Jag quality. Lexus will give you care-free driving, and at age 65, I don't want to spend spare time at a dealership for repairs. I did that with my SL 500 and the ABC system that was tempermental at best.

I like the way they refer to the LC500 as an Aston Martin that runs.

anyone surprised there's a secondary fuel latch release in the trunk (left side panel there's a pull cord)? i didnt know that.

Also didnt know there's 2 air filters... or realized that the little convertible trunk pieces are lined in leather. or how thick the carpets are since i threw the OEM all weather rubber mats right on top of them

Already knew most of that stuff, including secondary fuel latch release, 2 air filters, leather trunk pieces - tho not the floor mats (don't find they're THAT thick). One thing that did surprise me though, and had no clue about, was the secondary battery to operate the gear lever in case of primary battery failure and the oil pressure regulator....very interesting indeed!

I believe that secondary battery is Lith-ion and that's the battery that's like almost 1000 bucks to replace at the dealer. Yikes.

That secondary oil scavenger pump thing is interesting, but i think if they just went dry sump it would have fixed this *albeit added more complexity*. Considering the weight of the LC it doesn't do too well on the track anyways so it seems a bit excessive.

Yeah agree with you on the dry sump. Though given the Lexus/Toyota mentality, they tend to stick to "tried and tested" components and mechanicals. As for the Lith-ion battery, wonder how often we would have to replace that.....

For those of you interested in looking at an Aston Martin Vantage, I just did a review on one (finally). I definitely wouldn't say that the Vantage is comparable to the LC500 in both size and dynamics.

If I could afford it I would buy a used Honda NSX hybrid. Very few models available in Europe from 170K€ and up
