Default Added a smoked sidemarker today

Got this on ebay for 50% off ($20 for the pair) and installed today. Love the look with them off, very clean. The light pattern is also much better and brighter than OEM at night (bottom left is OEM, bottom right is the new unit).

Been looking at something like this myself however.........

They may be in violation of DOT/MOT laws. Why? All cars need to have reflectors on the side which are often integrated into the side marker lights. This is why the stock parts are part reflector and part side marker light and not all LED light like the ones you bought.

So, the question to ask is whether these parts are also reflectors. My guess is the answer is 'no' since the entire surface is lit up. Doesn't seem to be any room for reflective surfaces. They look great but are likely in violation of local laws. And not as safe either. Just sayin'

Once you put any kind of smoke whether it's film or a new unit you lose the reflector part. Yes it may be in violation but I live in a state that doss not have any vehicle inspection requirements. Safer is hugely debatable IMO since they are lit up with the headlights, and my headlights come on very early since the tinted windshield makes the car think it's darker than it is. Clearly a tinted windshield is illegal as well so it's not like my car is entirely law abiding to begin with lol.

I never understood the point of it being a reflector. In low light it will reflect and aid visibility... But the light is on anyway. The only scenario it would be beneficial IMO is if parked in low light and another car shines headlights on it. I don't drive the car at night very often anyway.

Nice. Can you give a quick rundown on how to install these? Hopefully not too difficult.

I like the look and may do something similar anyway. The reflector is meant for visibility at night when the lights are off. It's why we also have reflectors on the back of the car as well as the sides. As for safety, it's meant for the safety of others driving so that the car is visible if parked on the road at night for example.

it is safer (to others) - not as esthetically pleasing as smoked or clear lenses though.

Yup was not too difficult. The hardest part was not breaking the clips and having the right 90 degree screwdriver (think Allen key but with a Phillips on the end).

1) remove the 3 push clips in the fender well by the side marker. Turn the clip 90 degrees then pry up and pull it out.

2) starting from the bottom, pull the fender liner out from behind the body panel. It will take some force, helps if you have a pry tool. When you get to the clip detaching it will take some finesse. The fender liner is sandwiched into the middle of the clip. You have to reach behind the clip and push the tab on the backside of the clip down while pulling the fender liner away from the clip. If you do it right, the liner will detach and leave the clip in place.

3) continue along. Repeat for The two clips on the top. These clips are more difficult because they are also held in place by the screws you'll have to remove next. If you pull too hard without first pushing the tab on the backside of the clip, you will detach the fender liner receptacles from the fender liner instead of freeing the fender liner from the clip properly. This would be less than ideal (but not catastrophic) ask me how I know lol.

4) after you've got all the fender liner detached form the clips, pull it back as much as you need to in order to access the back of the sidemarker.

5) use the screwdriver to undo the two silver screws holding the two clips to the back of the sidemarker

6) using even pressure on the sidemarker, firmly press it into the opening to remove it. It's double sided taped in so you may have to push harder than you think to free it. I started at the bottom to get the leverage and then pulled it off that way once I could get my fingers behind it. Disconnect the light harness.

7) clean the tape residue if you want. You don't have to, but cleaning the old tape off will ensure you get 100% flush fitment. If you leave it, you might not sit flush when installing the new one. I cleaned one side but was running out of time and did not clean the other side. The side I didn't clean I would say is 90% flush.

8) insert the new light and connect the light harness. Line up the fender clips with the screw holes as they were when taking apart.

9) reattach the screws.

10) push fender liner back into the fender and into the clips. You'll hear a click most likely when it is inserted properly.

11) put the fender liner push clips back in.

Stopped and grabbed a few pics by the NaCl+H2O after PPF and ceramic. The sun wasn't quite right to get the full shine, but she's looking really good.

Question Damaged Polar Surge (satin white) Paint

Hello all, Im not sure where else to ask this but I just received my 067/165 ultimate edition this morning and when offloading it the truck driver damaged the entire underside of the bumper all around it, the dealer insists that they have the colour to fix it but they also say that they've never had to deal with this type of paint (I'm in Spain and apparently its the only Ultimate Edition in Spain) has anyone had their satin paint fixed correctly? my main fear is that they won't be able to replicate the satin finish, I am even considering not fixing it so I dont run the risk of having a chunk be glossy white any help will be appreciated.

This type of damage is all around the front bumper
