LC Depreciation
Hello all,
I was originally look at 911 but is now leaning toward the LC. Beautiful car. I noticed the price between new 2020 ($105k) versus a lightly used 2019 ($73k). That is a 30% depreciation in just a year. Why????
thanks.

Supply and demand. Demands are even lower than the small numbers of cars made. Not because there is anything wrong with any of the cars. New or used. And as there have been minimal changes since 2017, a like new low mileage car makes a whole lot of sense. If you want unique and beautiful buy the LC. If you want performance, buy the 911.

My opinion - The car is appreciated by the press - not so much by the average car buyer.

It is limited supplied, but it also less demand for such a 100K luxury coupe. A small group of people can afford this kind of price, even smaller group of people will choose coupe, and there are way too many choices *bmw 8, s coupe, LC, ftype. The dealer in my area tried to sell me the story that the car is limited with low inventory and I replied that I bet I am the single one who are interested in this car during this entire month.
I purchased my 2019 in April and paid $75K for it (3300 miles). It was my dream spec though (All Weather, Convenience, Performance packages, HUD, LSD, Mark Lev). They were trying to sell it for $84K when it landed on the lot. I built a 2019 exactly to my spec and it come out to $105K, so 30K off is a spectacular deal.

Hi Tempest
i am looking to get an LC with performance PKG
in about a year from now.
Was it tough to hunt down an 18 or 19 with low mileage
with the PP?
I notice almost all 18 and 19 used does not come with the PP
are most lease returns you see not getting this 6K pkg ?

@Tempest how did you get the dealer down from 84k to 75k?

The problem is what so many people have said before, it's a special car and it just doesn't hit the mark for the typical buyer in that price bracket. It's hard to look at the numbers and compare them to a German counterpart. I'm happy that I was able to purchase my dream car for effectively $35K off of MSRP, but I do wish Lexus was selling more. But if I were a betting man, I bet a revised LC is in the works with some amazing performance that rivals the LFA; be it an LC F or not.
I watched the car exchange hands at the dealership level. It was with a Toyota dealership at first (traded in), then another used dealership purchased it from them. The place I ended up purchasing it from was a really large dealership (10 lots, 1600 car volume a month) and they were nuking all their high ticket cars. Price dropped from $84K to $75K over a month during the lockdown, and that was enough for me to want to work a deal. They said I was only one of three people that checked it out. I'm thoroughly convinced they barely broke even on the car. The original price was ridiculous anyways. I just checked and I see two Caviar/Black 2018's for sale in my area; one for $74K (7K miles, Sport Package) and another for $71.8K (16K miles, Performance Package). I think that's too high for the market for both and I wouldn't be surprised if both sell below $70K.

And now there are 3 in my small town. Another one suddenly just up the street from my house! lol
As a previous owner of an Aston martin Vantage S, the LC delivers a whole lot more for the money IMO, minus the brand prestige. It's all about the grand touring experience of this type of car, not the numbers. As a direct comparaison, in 2+ years of ownership, the LC hasn't spent a single overnight at the dealership for repairs. On the other hand, the Vantage spent the better part of 50% of my ownership years parked there waiting for back order parts to arrive, or countless hours for the techs to figure out the electrical gremlins. It's an extremely niche market in which I believe the LC to still be the reference, even after 3 years on the market.
