Default Lc500 convertible trunk inside handle

This is probably a stupid question but I can't figure out the handle inside the trunk lid of the LC 500 convertible. I'm new to the car. I really don't want to slam the outside of the trunk but if I close it too gently it doesn't lock. I'm not sure how using a handle inside the truck helps me close the trunk without hitting my hand. Can somebody please enlighten me. What's the best way to close the trunk without slamming it or putting your hands all over the paint

Also. Once the door handles close on their own but the car isn't locked is there any way to lock it without taking the key fob out? Can you lock it from the door handle or trunk button without reopening the door?

Thanks

As far as the trunk goes, I've never had a problem pulling the lid closed and slipping my hand out as the lid is closing. It's not very heavy and the pistons are rather weak so you don't have to pull it to fast or hard leaving plenty of time to clear your hand before it fully closes. As far as the door lock goes, once the handle retracts the only way to lock it without the fob or using the phone app is to tap the front of the handle to re-extend it then tap the rear of the handle to fully lock it.

Inside handle fairly useless but dextrally doable. My method is using the round exterior trunk "L" logo as a touch point to gently clos up.

I start closing w tje trunk handle and finish by pushing down on the third brake light lens; but then again, I have the convertible, which is just one more reason to get the convertible model, lol.

It becomes second nature to pull the trunk closed from the inside handle. You don’t need to slam it so it’s a quick tug and remove your hand.

The trunk lid shock is a bit stiff at first, it will loosen up over time.

Okay that makes sense because my trunk lid is not that easy to close. Momentum doesn't really carry it. I tried that and then I got a message on my phone that the trunk lid was open after I went in the house. So it might look closed but it's not fully latched
