Default I did it, locked my keyfob in the car!

I know what your thinking... not possible, well, it is.

I was loading a suitcase in my trunk about to head home from some work travel and had the keyfob in a front pocket of my shirt (dress shirt style pocket)... as I leaned forward to slide the suitcase back it fell out and I didn't notice until I was in the middle of slamming the trunk but by then it was just too late.

So I figured I would walk to the door, and be able to grab the handle and have it unlock like normal... nope, out of range.... ****, so now what.
.... googled it a bit on my phone and the general answer here and there was it "wasn't possible", those fools.

Ended up calling AAA who got there and we tried to use hit slim jim tool to pop the manual unlock on the inside of the door, but as soon as if you flip it open the alarm goes off and the lock flips back to "locked position" .... so after about 10 mins of this guy trying to flip the lock and my pull the handle at the exact same moment we finally get it.... I'm in.

Problem is since the alarm was triggered it was in a "lockdown" mode so the trunk release would not work.

So now I"m in the car but have no way to the trunk.... long story short eventually took and elbow to the plastic pass-through to the trunk breaking it off.... was able to move my suitcase and catch my keys with the slim-jim.

Huge PITA and finally was able to drive away but did leave a piece of my car broken.

...moral of the story, shirt pockets are not acceptable for holding keys.

Pushing the button on the trunk didn't work? I know if I'm at the trunk with the keys in my pocket, pushing that button would pop the trunk open.

Another member left it in the cup holder and locked himself out before. If the battery low on the remote it won't sense were it is.

Exactly. it might be out of range to start the car but if it fell into the trunk it has to be in a trunk range!

Lol I dunno why people are under the assumption you can't lock your fob in the car, cause you can lol. Sales people usually tell their clients they can't. There are certain "deadzones" in the car as well as having a second key you can end up locking a fob in

Did you try the trunk button on the trunk itself like they said? Curious

This one got me thinking so I ran out to my garage, locked my car, opened the trunk, then tossed in my keyfob and closed the trunk. As soon as I closed the trunk my car beeped at me. I walked over to the doors and tried to open them. Yep, they were locked. I then walked around to the trunk and tried to open it via the trunk button. The trunk opened right on up.

My IS is a 2011, so there may be a year difference and my battery on my keyfob is still new.

Did you try opening the trunk?

^^ I closed my fob in the trunk and my car beeped at me too. My four doors were locked but I was able to open my trunk and retrieve the fob. Since this scenario was unintended I was very happy I didn't have to spend a few hours in the parking lot. I also have a 2011.
