A couple comments: first, I tried the 10mm socket method in the rear of the car which was supposed to be really easy and works great. It is actually more trouble than the proper method, and made only a very tiny difference.

The screwdriver under the hood is really easy and works unbelieveably well. Do what the owners manual and the PDF says, and adjust both screws on each side. Turn your screwdriver COUNTERCLOCKWISE which turns the adjustment bolt clockwise and raises the headlights. Remember to do both adjustments on each side. You'll need an 8" philips screwdriver and a little "feel" and faith because you can't see into the hole to turn the hidden adjustment screw. But you'll feel it turning.

I turned the adjustment gear 2 full turns on each side (which is 10 turns of the screwdriver) and it made a very noticeable difference. Good luck.

Would this only apply to those with factory hid? Or can I also adjust the stock halogens?

Do you have the HID lights or halogen? I have halogens, and I took apart my headlights and everything, and I failed to find a horizontal aim. I'm pretty sure only HIDs have the horizontal ones.

The U shaped notch in the black plastic at the top is the hole. If you insert the proper sized Philips screwdriver in it, the gears will match up with the indents on the Philips screwdriver tip.

After replacing a water damaged headlight assembly on my 2007 IS250 with HID and AFS - I needed to adjust the lamp. I read posts on this forum and others but really wasn't sure what those bolts were doing. So, at my peril, I dremeled into my old headlight assembly so I could see how it worked.
