anyone getting the grom vline?
Can you elaborate on the issue and how to replicate ? You are on all latest, correct ?
I'm interested in pre-ordering the new VL 2 before the 15th so I can get it cheaper but I got some questions for anyone that has the VL1 or knows about the VL2. So I bought a 2017 CT 200h, I don't have the car yet to test it out, got it from an auction so I'm waiting for the repairs to be done. I don't know if the nav screen in the car is a touch screen or not (can someone confirm?) but I know it has that stupid mouse like navigation thing to control the infotainment system. With the VL2 can I use that mouse thing in the car to make selections since I'm not sure if it is a touch screen or not?
Also again, not sure, would appreciate if someone can confirm. I don't like bluetooth audio streaming, quality is horrible, don't care how great people think it is. I prefer audio through USB in the car. I don't know if by default the car allows USB audio through an android phone or not, but if not can I use the VL2 and play audio through the speakers of my car from my android phone via usb connection?
I've never used my phone has a hotspot, I don't know how speeds are etc. Can I just plug in my phone through a USB cable and have android auto run off of it? You know like a standard head unit, you don't need internet tethering for that, you just plugin in your phone so you can use google maps etc. Is it possible with the VL2 for me to do that? Like if speeds aren't great and I don't want to get a hotspot plan, I just want to plug in my phone and have google maps run. Does that make sense? Also I'm not talking about phone mirroring where my phone's screen needs to be on or anything.
How long does it take for the system to boot when I turn the car on? How often does it crash?

It takes about 20-30 seconds to boot depending on what apps you have loaded. Mine rarely crashes anymore, there are some rare instances, but it boots right back up without having to reset or stop driving. Before it would get caught in a boot loop and would have to be restarted, but Grom has done a great job of making the unit stable, at least in my experience. The early growing pains are gone and Grom has been here the whole way addressing any issues that do present themselves.
Hello.
Only bought VLine1
I do not understand how to activate the CarPlay. This feature is disabled due to problems with Apple? How can I resolve it? You can write in private messages

Is yours doing the same thing?
- Click on Grey Apple Carplay icon.
- Then tap on the Activate Carplay UI option 11 times to reactivate Carplay option.

Make sure to use USB1 port (top), lower port is for USB Flash drives and other peripherals.
Are they providing the equipment and installing it for free? If so, then do it. If you're paying presale, IMO I don't think it's worth that presale price. I personally wouldn't pay more than $300 until they get it running as smooth as our daily phones. I have an old Android phone with a slower cpu than VL1 and it runs smoother and more reliably than it. There's something that is eating up a lot of RAM or cpu and it's still buggy. It's nowhere near as smooth as they show on their videos posted on their site and thatst after a clean factory reset on it. Just my experience.
