It has not been a pleasure 😔 with all the hiccups I have had with the VL1 and was really hoping that the VL2 would be close to 100% reliable in use...and available for updating on the VL1. Still hoping that Grom will give the VL1 buyers this option 😊

Yes, that was the message I received directly from Grom via their support ticket system.

i am willing to attempt vline AGAIN, if the VL2 is pre-order at $400, not $500.

all i got is a cut in my dash during VL1 install that didn't even work.. lol.

Did not Grom say in an earlier post that they would support update for VL1 owners to update from VL1 to VL2 ?

I thought so too, so I looked back over their post history and this is what they said:

All wiring, connectors etc.
I think this is what made me/us think that but looking back now I suppose what they could have meant was that you could just swap the modules without any other work... not necessarily that they'd have a discounted upgrade price. Confusing/misleading IMO, but doubt it matters anyways... guessing they have their mind made up already and won't change it.

Can you have factory sirius xm on and use waze or google maps from grom at the same time?

Are you folks happy with your grom unit?

I spent lots of money installing the VL1 in my 2006 Lexus IS350 since getting the harness cables routed to my glove box just wasn't happening before I lost my patience. I wonder if Grom could comment whether the harness cables from VL1 can be reused for VL2, so that I can do the upgrade myself rather than taking the car in again.

Default To GROM....

Please stand by Your statement according to update VL1 to VL2.

Yes this is still a plan. Once VL2 is shipped and production is steady we will offer VC2 module (swap for VC1) for tinkerers (advanced). All details will be announced after we start shipping VL2. Upgrade operation will require the good technical knowledge and certain assembly skills.

I am very happy with my VLINE unit. I stick to Waze, CarPlay and Google maps for offline navigation.

I use the Sirius app through CarPlay, not sure how the android Sirius app would work when run through the VLINE, maybe someone else has experience with that.
