so I was in a m5 caravan this weekend with one of my buddies who has an m5...tuned with downpipes...pushing 680hp to the crank.
long story short some of the cars there sounded so damn mean....is there a way to have our cars sound similar to theirs? That deep high pitch rumble with that back fire sound? It was music to my ears...would love to make our cars sound like that.
Bazooka exhaust pops and backfires all over, gives a really deep rumble at low rpms and more of a scream at higher rpms if thats what you're talking about.

It really does sound fantastic once you put some miles on it and it evens out, I was not that impressed by it the first week or so but now its incredible.
I have a Joe-Z...no headers bc I cant stand drone...literally I cant deal with it....that cabin noise drives me ape *****.
Is there ANYTHING we can do to make it anywhere close to that sound?
Dude I'm with you. I cannot handle drone either which is the ONLY reason why I haven't considered H / E. Seems like everyone on the board who has upgraded claims drone - I'd love to hear from any that don't. I'm talkin' zero drone too, not "tolerable" drone.
I do love the stock sound however. I think it sounds tight and refined. But I want more ponies. I'm not a fan of the backfire sound you're talking about but there was a new(er) M6 on the parking deck the other day that sounded glorious just starting up.
I've been extremely happy with my results with the Muffler + secondary cats delete. Sounds absolutely amazing. I did a few mods I found on the forums to cure the drone and I can genuinely say I get none what so ever around 2k rpm...OR freeway..
I love my HKS midpipe with Meisterschaft ECV exhaust. With the exhaust closed its very similar to stock in the interior below 3K rpms. A very slight drone on smooth roads with the radio completely off at low speeds but above 35-40 mph road and wind noise cancel it out. If I kept the stock midpipe there probably wouldn't be any drone with the secondary cats in place.
With the valve open, forget about it. Drones like crazy but sounds great when you want it to. Lots of pops and backfires at low rpm downshifts when you're off the accelerator. Great low grumble but screams up top with a little too much rasp above 5K. But really the best of all worlds, a Jekyll and Hyde exhaust.
