Cool Spark Plug Wires

I've been searching the site for some clarification on what brand of Spark Plug wires to use on the ISF.. I'm stocking up on things to do before I take it to my mechanic. Any help would be helpful.

No spark plug wires, the ISF uses ignition coil packs that connect directly to the plug.

Sooooo... I'm a hair under 110k miles and went to change my plugs, thinking they were 100k interval plugs (doh!), and found I'd already bought a set of colder NGK's and even the 6" Craftsman swivel everyone raves about here, a week or two after I'd bought her at 67k. Seems the previous owner did all the 60k service that somehow didn't make it into the Lexus service database - now I realize, this was done EXCEPT for the plugs, so I'm at 110k on the originals!

Hopefully related, at each cold start the last few months, she's developed a consistent hesitation/stumbling. Perhaps I should check compression while I'm in there? And if so, what kind of #'s am I looking for? I have a track weekend scheduled at MSR Cresson near Fort Worth in 3 weeks, so fingers crossed I can get her purring like the cat I'm used to by then... Thanks!!

I'm betting your stumbling and hesitation is due to the plugs having 110k miles on them and should run like buttah after the new ones are installed😎

But I think this thread can help you out below:

Here just to see what swivel extension people were using.
Figured Id chime in... bought my 08 with 137k miles. Original plugs. No issues or anything, but they need to be changed lol
Changing them out this week with OEM plugs.

No swivel here. Snap-On wobble extensions. I hate swivels and bought wobble extensions in 3/8 and 1/4 30 years ago. Never looked back because they work so well.

Agree with lobux. Just a wobble, if that even. Long extensions though to get the wrench end clear of the engine bay. I removed/relocated the stuff over each fender to get a good shot at each cylinder. Slow work but not difficult.

Anyone have any experience with upgrading the coil packs and getting some extra performance out of the 2UR? I’m at 147k miles and the plugs were done at 140k by the previous owner however I doubt the packs have ever been done. Just looking to do some preventative maintenance while squeezing some performance. Thanks

When I changed my spark plugs, I purchased some High Spark ignition coils to replace my oem. There absolutely nothing wrong with the oem. I had extra cash from the casino so I thought why not. The package is really nice and the plugs have a pretty cool logo. But, I can’t tell the difference. Honestly, I wouldn’t buy them again, especially for what I paid ($1400).

Thank you all, guess I won’t be spending money on new packs.

FWIW, I am rapidly approaching 200k miles and I am not at all concerned about the coils in my IS F. That said, I had to replace the coils in my Supra because they were cooked. Literally burned up by the heat and causing misfires at less than 130k miles. I had to replace the coil connector bodies too because they crumbled in my fingers when I went to remove them. The majority of the hoses on my IS F are still supple. I've replaced every single hose on my Supra because they were hard as glass and cracking. The 2JZ-GTE is a blast oven under the hood.
