I've got the 3G and the reception through the car's built in bluetooth sucks. When I switch to the phone in the car, there aren't any unsual problems. But using the BT in the ML often means that the person on the other end gets clipping and distortion.
Anybody else have this problem?
I'm a bit wary of bringing it to the dealer as I don't think they will be able to do anything.
I've had several people occasionally complain that I was cutting out. I've got iphone 3G too. I'm sure it's not a Lexus problem - it's an Apple/AT&T problem.
my boyfriend complains every time i call him and i use the bt in the car with my iphone 3g.. he says i constantly cut out meanwhile i can hear him perfectly.... ive stopped using the bt in the car because of this. and its only with the iphone 3g. it didnt do it with my htc phone

Sounds like we have the same problem. Have you tried taking it to the dealer? I'm guessing they won't be very helpful on a intermittent electronics problem involving a particular type of cell phone.
You have your answer right there, it's the phone, not the car. Try pairing the car with a different bluetooth phone and do some testing, I'm sure it'll work OK.

try putting the new iphone update on your 3g.. i did mine yesterday and noticed that my call quality to the person on the other end was perfect.. so i think the update may have fixed some of those call issues
Funny, a friend just got an iPhone, and he has the same issues with the BT. His prior phone worked flawlessly with the BT. Seems as it is an ATT/iPhone compatibility issue.

Can anyone else verify that this has helped? I'm trying to decide between a bold and the iphone 3g and not having it work with the car might be a deal breaker.
