first of all, I am new to this forum and the reason for joining is I am willing to buy a used IS-C.
I would like to know what should I concern when I look for a used one and know more about costing a used IS-C ownership.
if it helps I am looking for a "2013 IS 250-C" with 50K mileage.

Like buying any used car, look for obvious signs of neglect or lack of maintenance. Make sure the top goes up and down smoothly.

After that, look for the color and options you want. I'd go for the 350 vs the 250. A lot more fun to drive and not that much difference in gas mileage.

What are the percentages of IS-C's that have retractable hardtop issues? and may I ask what is the mileage on yours and how was your experience? are you the original owner or you got yours used?

The retractable hardtop is usually reliable. I have one of the exceptions. The most common complaint is that it squeaks and rattles. Lexus has a service bulletin on how to supposedly fix squeaks and rattles permanently, but it is hellish expensive to have done. If you have a problem with the top, a Lexus dealer is probably the only place that will try to fix it. Very few, if any, independent shops will touch it.

If you like to drive, even just a little, get the 350. It's a fast, fun car. It's faster than my SL with 5.0L V8.

Not sure what the percentages of hard top issues are, but my car is a 2014 and has 30K miles on it.. I bought it brand new (ordered it special) and have had 1 issue with the top (microswitch failure) and it was covered under warrantee. Funny enough, I don't have any issues with rattles and squeaks.. Maybe by 2014, they solved these issues.

my car had a trunk leak when I got it, but it was repaired under warranty, and they actually dismantled the entire roof and trunk and replaced a ton of parts.

TomDac said he didn't know what percentages of cars have problems. I don't have any idea either. It can't really be that many because there would be more posts here in Club Lexus. But of the posts that are made, I think the biggest majority are because of squeeks and rattles.

Thankfully I do not have any issues with the retractable hardtop on my ISC. I have done very little maintenance asides from oil changes and cleanliness.

Only would settle for the 350 even if it is my wife's car, and don't regret it one bit. Personally, I would feel frustrated from the lack of power on the 250. To each their own!
