Default Looking to buy 100k mileage 2014 IS 350, thoughts?

Saw a high mileage 2014 IS 350 priced under 20k. Carfax shows it was a leased vehicle with full maintenance up until it was returned to the dealer at around 100k miles. Is there a 60k maintenance on these vehicles? Would that have been done at this point since its a leased vehicle?

How is reliability on these vehicles when the miles are that high? Any common issues I should be on the lookout for?

Thanks for any input!

Check the maintenance history at https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/. Create an account, enter the VIN and see what kind of maintenance the car has. Good luck

Agreed to check the maintenance history, but make sure you spend some money to ask a local shop to check it. It's gonna be worth it.

Thanks for the responses. History seems fine with regular oil changes. What im wondering is if theres a major maintenance that these cars need such as timing belt replacement at 60k or something else to that effect. I just see regular low cost work being done in the history. Thanks!

-Make sure there have been no accidents involving the vehicle
-Take it to your own trusted mechanic to check everything out
-Confirm the maintenance history and what problems it's had

I'm new to the Lexus brand and as much as the reputation for these vehicles are amazing, 2014 was the first year of this gen and I don't know what issue came up with the first year model, can anyone speak to this? Other than some of the batteries having issues I'm not familiar with anything else.

I would make sure the VIN # is on all the body parts (hood, doors, trunk, etc) no ensure no unreported accidents. If regular maintenance is done and recalls are addressed and someone you trust has verified no other gimmicks with the car i would pull the trigger. These cars are pretty much bulletproof in terms of reliability.

One thing i would keep a look out for is the water pump and serpentine belt as car is at the 100k mark.

Also, the 60k service is the more important service interval as per the manual.

❑ Replace engine oil with 0W-20 oil; replace oil filter
❑ Replace cabin air filter
❑ Replace brake fluid
❑ Replace engine air filter
❑ Replace Smart Key battery
❑ Replace spark plugs1
❑ Reset maintenance reminder light
❑ Inspect the following:
  • __ Axle shaft boots
  • __ Ball joints and dust covers
  • __ Body
  • __ Brake lines and hoses
  • __ Brake rotor thickness and runout
  • __ Drive belt
  • __ Engine coolant (see page 69)
  • __ Exhaust pipes and mountings
  • __ Front differential oil (IS 350 AWD)
  • __ Fuel lines and connections, fuel tank band and fuel tank vapor vent system hoses

Driving on dirt roads or on dusty roads:

❑ Tighten nuts and bolts on chassis
❑ Rotate tires2
❑ Visually inspect brake pads, calipers and rotors
❑ Check installation of driver’s floor mat❑ Road-test vehicle

__ Fuel tank cap gasket
__ Rack-and-pinion assembly
__ Rear differential oil
__ Steering linkage and boots
__ Transfer case for signs of leakage

(IS 350 AWD)
__ Transmission for signs of leakage __ Wiper blades

The 3.5 in the IS300/350 have a timing chain. There is no real major maintenance required, aside from others have already posted to be on the look out for. The engine should be good for 200k+ so long as the fluids and plugs have been taken care of regularly.

I have a ‘14 350 base with 120,000 miles (highway commute). I would definitely recommend the purchase, with the confirmation of regular maintenance. I’ve had no issues. Have changed oil every 7,000 or so, would have flushed coolant and brake fluid but shop said they looked fine and didn’t need it. Plugs replaced at 65,000 and they were still fine.

I picked my 2014 IS350 up in August for $21k with 48,000 on it. I looked for 2 months. Be patient and wait for a good deal. And check Car Gurus.

Geezus man. That is A LOOOOOOOOT! My '15 is only at 34,200 miles ! o_O and I picked mine up one year ago at 26,400 miles.

I am shocked and impressed at the same time.

Just sold my 06 IS350 I purchased new. Same engine as the one you're looking at. Sold it with 238,0000 miles on it with no engine issues ever. Used full synthetic Mobil 1 and changed every 5k miles. The engine is bulletproof. My RC350 also has the same engine, so I know what to expect.

What??? That is insanely cheap, At that price, the car must have had structural damage on the carfax?

Sometimes the Carfax won't have that info... Coworker of mine just picked up a 2016 IS 350 RWD from Carvana, USB 2.0... beautiful, at least on paper. But then when he got the car, he noticed the paint looked "off". Dealership took a look at it and said it had been repainted - from the front door all the way to the rear quarter panel. Nothing on the Carfax. So yeah, he sent it back immediately.

It was traded in on a truck in a small town in Oklahoma. They were having a hard time selling it to the rednecks... lol. I took a friend with me that use to manage a body shop, and neither of us found any issues. We checked everywhere, inside and out. It is a straight base though. No leather or ML system. Premium package only.
