we might be able to help you if you tell us if you're on a 250 or 350.

The oil companies have secretly planted a device in your particular car (but not mine) that ensures that you get only x number of miles per dollar...and since the price is going down lately....well, you get the picture. ;-)

I'll ask the obvious: have your driving habits changed at all?

I think what is happening is that the car calculates your average mileage from your last fill-up and gives you your "new" mileage. I've noticed the change on mine too, it's never the same since my driving habits are not consistent.
I hope this helps you. (Also look in your manual, and see if there is any info there)

I get about 310 on my IS and it's a 350 that I drive in 90% city. You might want to get a doctor to check on your lead foot...

Don't need its birthday , but it would help to know if its RWD or AWD. I hope its the latter, since your range is worse than I'm getting on my IS350 (about 330-340 miles/tank), and if anyone put an egg under my right foot, they would have scrambled eggs within the couple miles.

Holy hell, you have a 250 RWD and you're only getting 285 miles per tank??? It's a 17-gallon tank, right? That seems RIDICULOUSLY low unless you're driving like 5 miles per hour everywhere you go, and/or have a VERY heavy foot on both the gas and the brake pedals... Use premium, drive less aggressively, use the brakes as minimally as possible, and go the speed limit on the freeway.

If none of that helps, maybe you should take that 450-lb, concrete bird bath out of your trunk, cuz otherwise I'm out of ideas.

You have what should be the most fuel efficient version of the IS. You should be getting at least like 100 more miles per tank. That sounds like pathetically low mileage.
