Reason I ask this is because when you buy Enform, the key fob can start the car with 3 clicks. But when you cancel the Enform subscription, the remote start function stops working. That means the car has the function, so is there a way to activate it without having Enform?

I have Techstream, a member on here gave me some options on how to do it but it's been a bit finnicky so I was wondering if anyone else has done this? Dealer wants $300-350 to install it on my fob... the range isn't even good and I think $300 is too much.. $150 at most would make sense.

I think the Enform subscription is required to use the fob functionality. There may be a way to bypass the Enform stuff, but I am not aware of anyone having done so.

Someone sent me instructions saying to follow some steps via Techstream and it would work after Enform subscription goes offline. Weird because some of the options were missing in the tutorial but when I activated my Enform subscription, those options came back and I was able to activate them so we'll see what happens after Enform subscription runs out to see if those settings stay within Techstream or get erased.

Crazy our cars have remote start but Lexus controls the ability to disable that function

Unless somehow it was activated for me previously, I don't believe I have the Lexus Enform subscription - at least I don't think I'm paying for it on a monthly basis. Don't have the app either on my phone and I'm able to remote start my car with the 3 clicks of the key fob.

What year car do you have? Did you buy it pre-owned? Is it 3 clicks or 3 clicks and HOLD on the 3rd?

Reason I ask is cus I believe the newer IS's 2018+ (I think have Enform free for 10 years?) Not sure which years IS that's for.
As for the 3 clicks, I saw some kind of module that you plug into some harnesses into your car and it programs the car to remote start with 3 clicks (no hold, if I'm not mistaken) but the one from Enform is 3 clicks and a hold on the 3rd.

Mine's an '18 and I bought it new. I could be wrong, but I think Safety Connect service was for 10 years from my car purchase date free and not Enform itself. I remember being told the remote start was a 1 year trial then I'd have to pay into a subscription, which I never did.

For me, remote start via the key fob is 3 clicks - click two times quickly, then hold down the 3rd click.

I understand now, I apologize. I believe for car years 2014-2016, they force you to purchase remote start ($8) with the Safety Connect ($8), I don't have the option for either or. So from my understanding, you've went over the 1 year trial period and your remote start is still functional?

Yep, via my key fob (the 2 clicks of the lock button then a long press of that button) can still remote start my car.

repost:
The 2018 and 2019 Lexus are the sweet spot in the Lexus Enform saga. As mentioned the
Safety Connect (overhead SOS button) and the fob Remote Start have a 120 month (10 year)
complimentary trial. The "Lexus App" to find, follow and monitor the car had the 12 month trial.

2017 and older Lexi will have all functions "sunset" after Halloween 2022 when the 3G cell towers
are retired, no plans to retrofit, upfit or replace those systems. 2020 and newer Lexi have a
36 month (3 year) trial for SC, fob remote, phone App, Destination Assist, Dynamic Nav, everything.

Download the Lexus App, black icon w/silver Arrowhead Lexus logo, and tap Demo. Check out what
you can subscribe to if desired. Since the 2018 and 2019's have the SC free you only have to pay the
$80/year or $8/month for the app. 2020 and on will need to pay $80/year for the SC and the $80/year
for the App for $160/year or $16/month.

My car shuts off when I open the door after using remote start in the app.

Normal?

Sadly, yes.

This is also the case when installing an aftermarket remote start kit, which I have on my car, it still shuts off after opening the door. As far as I am aware this cannot be bypassed on a Lexus.

Just wanted to share this in case someone thinks that an aftermarket remote start will be different. It will still shut off.

Starting the car again immediately is dumb.

Incorrect. Remote start is totally unavailable for any IS 2014 model, with or without Enform or Safety Connect.
