lexus dealer?! you mean the one by luxury motor works? i have that, love that, can't ask for better.

for me i just want remote start and a little sensor. i dont' need anything else, specially another remote chained togther with the key. so the LMW was my only choice

if you get others like viper, you probably will pay about the same price too, and you get some more features like paging and stuff. but i didn't even consider it myself

I have the Viper 791 2 way pager and am very happy with it. The shock sensors give warnings unlike the luxury motorworks one which just honks. The luxury motorworks one is perfect for someone who has a newer lexus in which the alarm is incorporated in the existing key.

In my case, it was different. All my key had was the side button for the remote and that's it. I also did not have trunk release and the viper quickly filled that void.

With the viper remote, I am notified when someone activates the alarm or even when the warning sensors go on. The range is the best as I have been 200-250 yards away from my car and the remote can still start the car and unlike the doors.

The best thing I like about the remote start is when leaving work or school at night, I can start the car with the headlights turned on. Makes it seem like I have a personal valet. hehe

what does the remote start come with.? relays to install? if so how many and will it be a plug and play? or do i have to splice in to my factory system? and whats the range? because my factory system does work when i am not NEXT to the car. i still need my chin to help with the signal sometimes . how can i extend the range of my alarm?

This may be specific to your dealer? It definitely is not OEM. You should try to find out what third-party remote start they are installing?

dave, I have the audiovox, but you would know that if you ever brought ur lazy *** down here to check out the whip

it works fine for what I use it for, the two way paging works great (tells u when it's running and when someone breaks into it)

the viper is a lil better quality, but at a premium price tag.

If I was you, I'd have the dealer do it if it doesn't offset the payments that much or if you could have it tossed in for free...

so does that mean you got the silver 430 or what???

I doubt if the guys at the dealership will be installing it. The dealership probably sub-contract with some alarm shop to do it (and more than likely jack up the price on you). The nice thing, though, is that if anything goes wrong, it is between you and the dealer (usually pretty good since it is Lexus) instead of you and a third party shop (YMMV).

i didn't do mine myself (lmw did it for me), but i know quite a few people installed it themselves, and they like it. it's very easy to install, some splicing wires, it's all done in the driver side (door and under steering column). the unit is already come in a setup (together with harness), so not hard

I've seen quotes from $400 - $700 when I was doing my research on a 2-way system like the Viper or Clifford. The price depends on the shop and your locale so you may or may not be able to find the low end in your area.
