Default Remote Start via Key Fob

'18 IS350 F-Sport, purchased new back in June 2018. I've read several previous posts about remote start with the Lexus Enform App, but I honestly don't care too much for paying the $8/mth for the remote start capability from the app. However, without having any subscription, I didn't know you could still remote start your car with the key fob - is this normal? I just decided to try in the parking lot today and it worked... car started and everything, but I'm aware that once you open the door the car shuts off.

I figured Lexus (and other car makers really) would find some way of forcing you to pay for that convenience, even if you didn't go the app route.

The 2018 and 2019 Lexi benefit from having the best Lexus Enform Trial period of all.
2010 through 2015 had 12 months Complimentary Safety Connect (and Destination Assist if Nav equipped).
2016 and 2017 had that and 12 months of the Remote Start both fob and phone.
Note: all 2017 and older Lexi are losing all SC, RS, DA when the 3G services "sunset" 10/31/2022.

Your 2018 (and 2019) Lexus has the Lexus Enform Safety Connect and the fob Remote Start
for 120 months (10 years!). If you want the Lexus App (black icon w/ silver Lexus arrowhead logo)
to Remote Start, find parked car, monitor Valet Parkers, notify open sunroof/windows/hood/trunk that
will cost the $80 (previously $249) per year.

2020 and newer have all of it Complimentary for 36 months then $160/year for the fob RS & Lexus App.

^ Really? I thought the Safety Connect was the only thing that comes for 10 years as the trial, not the remote start part (which I thought was only for 1 year from date of purchase or was that just for the app?)

Thank you for the detailed info! Will definitely take advantage of the key fob remote start from now on for my 2019 IS.

unioncorp and all, try the 3 press fob cadence on any 2018 or 2019, you should be able to RS until
120 months from the in service date. ISD will be on any used car Car Fax report as date sold.
Note: the press sequence is a bit fussy until you learn it, Press/release/Press/release/Press and HOLD
until the cars marker lights begin to flash on their own. Second key can not be in the car, trunk and doors
must be fully closed, low fuel and check engine lights can not be lit, must be within '80...a bit fussy.

Also, something I realized this weekend is that you have to be in an area with decent cell phone coverage. I could not get this to work on my three-week-old 2021 IS 350 when I was in South GA in the country. However, normally Enform works great up here in metro Atlanta.

To clarify, yes, even with the key fob you need to have good cell coverage.

My 2018 only had a one year trial for the enform remote. The safety connect is longer I believe.

V350 - check again, all 2018 & 2019 (except GX's) have 120 months of Safety Connect and fob remote start.
You did have a 12 month trial of the Lexus App Remote and Destination Assist if Navigation equipped.

That's interesting - good to know though. I was always under the impression that we have 10 years of Safety Connect as the trial from purchase date and 1 year of the Lexus app remote... My assumption was that the remote start even with the key fob falls in line with the app remote too.

Ohhhh for Fob start yes it works. I had a year trial of remote start via my phone. So after 10 years no more fob starts? Seems ludicrous
