Default Remote start with smart key

I have read all the posts about remote start on here and am very disappointed as it seems that if you have the LS with a smart key you can not successfully install remote start unless you are Makoto Oshima himself. All the aftermarket kits are for key start models only.
Has anyone out there installed a remote start in a smart key LS430 with success? I dont want to take it to BestBuy and have a 20 something old violate my car's electronics.
Thanks!

I have a complete alarm and remote start system (Compustar) installed on my 06 with smart key. No issues what so ever.

a guy that used to work @ circuit city (remember those places) was doing alarms/remote starts after they closed. he installed a DEI unit in our LS430 with smart key. works great, but the only thing is (and maybe this was his inexperience) you use the remote start remote to also unlock the door. but when i get in i have to step on the brake to turn off the remote start & then the smart key still in my pocket, i can start the car as normal.

i was talking to another shop about installing the module so i can have the app and start my car with my cell phone. i am also going to check with them to see if that was installed correctly and if not, what can be done.

I have the 901. It looks like it's called the PRIME 901 now, but it's the same thing. I had it installed at DSI in Laurel MD, but the shop closed recently after 20+ years.

I can remote start with the remote for the Compustar, unlock the doors with the Compustar remote, get in, turn the ignition like normal and drive off, no need to turn the car off and restart it. This almost sounds like what has or had to happen if a car has a push button start.

Ditto. They are good. Their tech support is very friendly.

I have Smart Keys. The installer initially thought the same thing about having to get in, press the brake to turn it off and then restart with the key, then he realized that there is still a physical ignition that turns with our cars.

also, thank you for the info on this. just sent a message to the installer to see if it's something they would correct.

well, not sure if it was just an excuse or what....the installer was saying it could be mine was set up this way b/c it was not supported back when i had it installed. they said they would look at it & if it was something that was easily changed, they could take care of it. but when i picked up the car, it was still the same. so not sure if it's just something that could be wired up differently or if i would have to get a newer/updated remote start module. but everything is working correctly, so i don't see the need to spend that extra money.

on the other hand.....the phone control is pretty cool, lol.

I'm wondering if they just didn't want to change anything out or even attempt to make it work. Could be they didn't/don't have the right add-on to make it work properly. As a side note, most DEI modules (Directed) work with the majority of alarms out there. As long as you're happy with it, is it worth pushing the shop? I have been tempted to get the module on mine so I can use my phone, but haven't made up my mind yet.

well, i might push the issue later. not that big of a deal at this time. could be that the scheduling didn't work either. only had me booked for the phone control module, which is a simple plug in really (from what they told me). had to get my wife's truck back up for the remote start/phone control on that. so timing wasn't really right either. maybe if i didn't need her's done right away they could have done something with mine, lol.

phone control is pretty cool. i just opted for the basic functions. but apparently you can add features like GPS (more $ monthly though) so you can track your car, set up geo-fencing, etc.but the basic is fine. i can verify if the car is running, and if the doors are locked. same features on both vehicles.

hey, do you mind me asking where you had your remote start installed? i'm thinking the installer isn't as good as he claims. he was doing this as a side job (since we knew him from when we were younger). mine was just the phone control. luckily my wife's benz turned out ok. but we dropped off my nephew's IS350 this morning & over 12 hours later, still not working alarm/remote start. he says 1st it was the brain that was bad. so he had to get another. but then texted us back saying he can't get it to work. so my brother is pretty pissed that he had the car all day and nothing was done.

but makes me think that he didn't know how to fix mine correctly, and maybe i should have it checked by someone else.

thanks for any info you can help me with.
