2021 IS With Wheel Spacers?
In terms of how it would work is completely up to what spacer you use.
If it's a small spacer, say 5mm, then you could reuse the lug bolts.
As the spacer gets larger then you need to decide between long bolts or bolt on spacers.
Example: 10mm spacer you could use longer bolts, but a 25mm spacer you'd want to use bolt on spacers
When you figure out what spacers you want to run, industry will sorta dictate if it's longer bolts or bolt-on.

I have a 2022 is300 RWD running 15mm in the rear, 5mm (for now) on the front.
First, I bought 14x1.5 to 12x1.5 conversion studs from motorsport hardware. Future proofs for when I inevitably buy aftermarket wheels. I've seen issues with some wheels where M14 was too large for some brand's wheel bolt holes and just wanted to avoid that issue completely. These are also extended to accommodate a pretty thick spacer if you wish. FYI, you'll need a 7/32 hex wrench socket.https://motorsporthardware.com/produ...14x1-5-12x1-5/
Then since Im also currently on stock wheels, needed ball seat lug nuts in 12x1.5. These also needed to be open ended cause the conversion bolts are pretty long. Only vendor I found that had a set that would work was 1320performance on eBay.
As for spacers, alot of brands are backordered for months at the moment. I went with ST Suspensions, I believe it's Ken Block's brand. Engineered by KW, so reputable enough for me. They run about 85-90 a pair. I bought mine off summitracing because they actually had some in stock at the time, at least the rears. 15mm in the rear, 10mm in the front. They did require a little bit of trimming on the rear hubcentric ring (they use a composite material for the ring but it fits nice and snug.)
I'll get pictures uploaded later. (Only have the rears on at the moment, fronts I'm still waiting on)
Would love to see some pics when you get to it.

For the 15mm you'll have to trim the protruding side of the hubcentric ring a little (probably another reason why it says it doesnt fit our vehicles. It's composite plastic so it's easy to do so with a hacksaw or Dremel.
Here's the rear with the 15mm on stock wheels
So with the ST units you mentioned, you just had to shave down the composite piece (I'm guessing the cylinder was too long and hits the center cap)?
If that's the issue then it would just be a matter of modifying the composite piece and grabbing some new wheel bolts that accommodate the additional 10mm & 15mm spacers. ST seems to make custom length bolts as well in black which would be perfect.
Leaning in this direction. I like the stock 19" wheels, and I've since put a set of Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires on them but the offsets are far from aggressive. Certainly beats spending another $2K+ on wheels.
one downside of extending your wheels though is the lever is extended so this changes your effective spring / damper rates (makes it softer) and also puts more stress on your bearings. in the bmw crowd they'd throw out bearings left and right. what was once a 200k item turned into a 50k item. just a heads up!
