Wishing my 350 had a little more growl.
Engine sounds nice when giving it, intake/sound amplifier sound good but exhaust is silent.
Seen quite a few muffler deletes on 350’s but haven’t heard of just a resonator delete.
Im in Canada where dealers will/can void warranty for anything. We do not have the magnuson-moss act here. So really just considering an axel back or a resonator delete as I have extended factory warranty and don’t wanna mess it up.
Im looking at $600 Canadian Dollars just for a remark axel back (which is just a muffler delete) or I was thinking of maybe doing resonator delete.
wow thanks. Hard to tell what gave him more growl the res delete or the magnaflow mufflers.
Being in Canada by the time we convert our weak as hell dollar, which I think is only worth 70 cents American right now, add shipping, import fees, it’s just not feasible to do a lot of stuff.
Also if I do res delete wouldn’t it make sense to use factory diameter piping? For example if factory piping is 2” (just an example) the pieces I use for res delete should match that?
You can also, always do a longer resonator to get a deeper tone.
I figured price wise that would be considerably more since the Vibrant resonators I was looking at were like 70$ a pop. So I didn’t wanna spend to much $$$ because at some point it will make more sense to just get a whole new midpipe or catback.
I called a shop they said it’s a 3-4 hour job + 50$ in pipe. Is it me or is that stupid expensive? I’ve seen so many ppl talking about “I paid 120$ for a muffler delete” etc I was assuming this was an easy, straight forward job.
This is A pic of a members is350 with resonator delete. Looks like 2 pipes, no bends & easy to cut...what’s a reasonable price for this job?
I know nothing about welding but I’m pretty sure that’s not a 3-4 hour job.

What should I be paying?
I can't tell you want you should be paying, but that kind of work normally comes at a lower labor rate than other mechanical work. So a gasket may be $100/hr labor,, but something like this would be $80-90/hr, for example.
They over charged. $50 buys them multiple full tubes your only needing part of 1. $150 i should think would be max for labor and parts, and that's high. Business is slow and maybe they're trying to make up for it.
On my old SC300 I had a full cat back dual exhaust built right in front of me, was in/out less than an hour.
Try a muffler shop and tell them you'll wait, so they know you'll know it didn't take 3 hours. Sucks we have to hold people accountable.
going to keep calling around as even 320$ cash seems high for a few cuts and welding in 2 pipes.
Bad luck? + x2 what it should be like Tony said too.
Maybe your calling some top dollar specialist something or other. Any muffler shop or shop with welder can do it just as good as anyone else.

The thing is I’m ignorant as hell about welding, I don’t know anything so it’s hard to negotiate with them because I don’t actually know what’s involved. Also I live in Canada where everything is expensive.
Even a place like Mister Muffler which is a chain of muffler shops would have good piping? Is it literally one of those things any half decent welder could do?
