I am in the same boat. Turbo to me is far more likely to be an issue down the road

I agree with you getting used.
My IS is coming up on 7 years old...it was an early build 2014 (i think August 2013 build).
Once it gets to about 10-11 years old I'll be looking for either a GSF or IS500 used (assuming the IS500 does make it to market).
I figure something 3-4 years old shouldn't be too crazy on pricing...the bulk of the depreciation has passed at that point.

It's not the biggest deal in the world, but if you're shopping luxury, there is a right to be nit-picky about small things. You should expect convenience features. Luxury automakers have been cutting corners like crazy in the past years.

^ I agree. The IS should have folding mirrors on the 2021, even if it doesn't. Most other luxury brands have them on their base models.

I hate how the car is premiered then we have over a month of absolute silence. Where is the testing and more photos or video? I still have not seen a black-leather interior.

LOL! Take a look at the RC-F black interior. It's the same thing other than the round vents and the infotainment.

My guess is this car will be available in November and more info will come out in Sept/Oct.

Well, lots of disapointed Acura fans now that the specs for the TLX Type S has been announced, for a "from the ground up design" and branding the TYPE S as the super sporty variant, 355/354 (HP/TQ) is not that overly impressive, especially is Lexus comes out with the IS500

I know, but I just want some damn real pics. Yeah, I guess we got a few more months to go.

Yeah, there's a brand that's doing things better. I like the interior. Unfortunately the TLX is not the same class as the IS -- it's def more mid-size sedan.

Not for the "I really miss my IS F" crowd. Depends on how they outfit it and market it. There is demand building for a V-8 four door IS sedan for sure, just look in the IS F forum for how many are holding on to their cars and not at all excited about leaving the Lexus family. I seriously doubt the V6TT would keep costs down. More likely it would be a move to meet emissions requirements, not manage costs.

i think the tlx is a really great looking car now that it's been redesigned. i didn't realize, though, that it's almost a foot longer than the current IS model. that's significant. i like my cars pretty small and i was really looking forward to the tlx even after i heard the type-s' horsepower and torque numbers. i guess i'll still look at it at the dealership, but i dunno, cars seem to be getting larger and larger due to crash regulations and i guess to make slots for entry-level vehicles. there is supposed to be a replacement for the ilx.

IMO the TLX exterior looks almost the same as the previous generation. The interior looks better, but still looks cheap to me. I actually think Lexus redesign of the IS exterior looks more different from their last gen than the new TLX from it's previous gen.

do i think that the tlx looks like an evolution of the previous design? yes, but i think it was done extremely well. so well, in fact, that the newest iteration looks far better than the previous version despite there being a resemblance.

I understand comparison with with the TLX makes sense. However, let's try to keep this thread focused on the 3IS. If we're talking about the TLX, it should be in the context of the redesigned IS.

Still looks worse than the Lexus, especially the interior. And the small power upgrade imo wouldn't be worth moving to a less reliable brand.
