AFAIK there's 18s on the standard 2021 IS, 19s on the F Sport, and there's the optional Dynamic Handling Package which features optional 19" BBS (germany) lightweight wheels

I bought TWO different Lexus from Westminster, been there many times, including Service which is a couple miles away, and NEVER AGAIN! lol

If you buy from Westminster it's better to deal with the CPO guys (even if you're buying new), negotiate everything under the sun, don't back down, and walk away if it's still a thin deal.

My dumbass shoulda mentioned the close-up is a released photo from Lexus too:

If there was was power-folding, it would look like this (I think this is an RX, which also has the auto-fold-on-lock function):

And I would never trust what a dealership tells you about features. The average car forum Joe knows more about features than dealership clowns do. I've experienced this at BMW Buena Park, New Century, Monrovia...all dumb. Take Audi for instance -- had a sales guy in Pasadena clash with me saying auto-dimming side mirrors were never offered on the Audi A3. They totally were, as part of the Prestige trim....but Audi got cheap and axed the feature now in 2020 for the A3 and only have it on the S3.

I don't care how petty I seem for wanting power-folding mirrors. I think every Lexus model has it now on some sort of trim, so I don't understand why the IS didn't get this. They cheaped out, just like they did with the overall interior.

If the lack of power folding mirrors is your biggest concern, stick to riding a bicyle.

I honestly could care less about a true F model or V8/ V6T option. The greatest cars in history had only 300 horsepower that people cherish and drool over. Yet the IS with 311hp isn't enough. I'd care more about weight savings, handling performance, and chassis dynamics. Acura NSX, RX-7, SUPRA, SKYLINE.

I had the IS350 for 5 years and 60k miles. I felt it was too slow for the weight. It weighs over 3700 lbs and the handling at 8/10ths is great but over that, it's an under steering mess. Have you seen the powerband on a dyno? It gutless under 4K rpms and has a crazy uptick past 4K. That powerband makes the car feel slower than a 300hp BMW turbo with a wide powerband. You really have to rev the crap out of it for power. The car runs 14s in the 1/4th which is SLOW for a sports sedan today. If they fixed the power and the understeer, it would be competitive with the G20 BMW 3 series.

Assuming "had the IS350 for 5 years and 60k miles" refers to the past tense, your only reason for posting is: 1) to tell us how much you hate the IS so you no longer have one, 2) how sh|tty it is, and 3) to pimp out other UN-reliable cars, with high cost of ownership, and maintenance nightmares. What would you like us to do - hate on the IS as much as you and sell ours?

I'm just stating what needs to be fixed for this next gen car. I loved my Is350 and it was a good car for the time but it needs to improve to be competitive. It can't stay the same. I'm hoping they fixed the understeer issue near its limits and if they offer the IS500, it will be near the top of the class again. The current engine was fine...in 2014. It's 2020 so we need something better on the top trim. The Lexus also stayed in the family so I get fielded question about it all the time still.

This isn't about the current gen...it's about the 2021 version but we are all making a wish list of what should be different in that next gen. You're getting way too personal for a simple discussion on the next gen model.

I guess you didn't read the 2021 press release? They re-did the whole suspension and wheel/tire combo.

I did but that doesn't mean it's resolved that issue. I'll wait until 3rd party reviews come out. If they fixed that, then a powertrain bump is all it needs to be competitive again. I've always said the IS is the best looking car in the segment.

Some people are just extreme fan boys. I love my IS and I love Toyota/Lexus, but man is it frustrating to see them stay so conservative. I’m not asking them to make an affordable super car, I’m just asking for them to compete with the competition in the same segment. I get reliability is their cornerstone, but you can make a reliable engine and transmission that can handle power, it’s not impossible. Regardless, some people on here will lose their minds if you speak the truth about how stagnant Lexus has become because you’re talking “bad” about the brand they would “die” for.

those are the greatest cars of the 90s. the world has moved on since then and lexus simply isn't innovating quickly enough to meet enthusiast and now, increasingly, overall consumer demand for vehicles that perform competitively against the europeans and with the hyundai/kia group eyeing the lexus marketshare squarely, their luxury division, genesis.

None of you can even answer WHY you “have a wish list”, or “requesting a new engine”, or “more power”, or “compete with Germans”, or want “this”, or “that”. It’s complete BS. Even if similar is released it's also BS that you're gonna immediately run to a Lexus dealer and buy one.

Do ya even read your own posts? You constantly come up with XXX reasons for hating IS, recommend other sub-standard, UN-reliable, break & fix cars which are crappy in comparison, someone challenges, and then the response is “ohhh btw but I love my IS”. BLEGH. And then a pathetic excuse is that the majority of us are just "fan boys". So what does it make you by repeating on numerous posts "I love my IS"?? Good Luck fishing for a fan base to join your distaste for Lexus. Any other reasons for being on this forum?

Analogous to pelosi - in one breath she says “i pray for trump”, and then immediately after “i want to see him in jail” - ya well make up ur mind u psychotic b|otch.

You ever been to other forums? They are all the same. When a NEW car comes out, then people have a wish list of crap they wanted on the car vs. whats offered. I want the IS to succeed because at the height, it was a competitive offering to the Germans at a lower price with competitive performance. It wasn't the fastest but it had the best overall package. I want Lexus to offer higher trims so that I can recommend them to friends or even consider them when i change cars. The GS was cancelled because the sales were abysmal and the IS is headed that way. You want the IS to succeed, then you have to be vocal about the changes you want so Lexus mgmt can understand what the consumer wants. There is nothing wrong about being vocal about what you see as deficiencies in the car because EVERY CAR FORUM does this. If you don't like it, just ignore the posts
