Auto Door Relock???
2016 IS300
I customized my vehicle settings to RELOCK the doors after 60 seconds of pressing UNLOCK on the key fob. That works as advertised.
However, if I park and walk away from the vehicle, and FORGET to lock the doors, the Auto Relock does not lock up the car. Is this normal?
An older model Toyota I had would lock the car if you forgot...
Thanks in advance for your replies!

IDK, but it seems logical that relock only works after unlock.
So you park in your home garage....no reason to auto lock.
But it if you unlock and don’t open the door, it is detected as an
inadvertent unlock, so it relocks.

To the OP, if you had an older Toyota that did that, then it was not a factory function that was doing it for you.

I'm pretty sure the programmed logic (even for older cars like my Corolla) is when a locked parked car is unlocked, but no doors are opened within 10-15 seconds, then the car automatically locks itself.
However, as others stated, if you just finished driving, park and turn off the car, then open your door to leave while leaving the car unlocked, the car wouldn't automatically lock itself. That's normal function from the factory. It's only when you lock your car then unlock it without opening any doors will your car eventually re-lock itself.

I'm sure it's a setting, but I think that would drive me nuts. There are many times that I want the car left unlocked, especially at home and in my garage.

What I'd like to do is lock the car while it's left running.
So I can leave the car running, the key remaining in my pocket, and lock it behind me.
Anyone know if it's doable? It doesn't let me thus far.
There are actually some practical reasons for this .
