Default Auto Locking Doors

Is there a way to set my 2007 Lexus IS 350 to auto locks all the doors, when the car is off and I leave the car after it doesn't detect the fob for about x seconds?

No, I don't think so.

nope. so what would be a use case for this? in what kind of scenario are you applying this to? often times the key might not be detected even though it is within range or in your pocket inside the car, how do you handle that with the doors locking and all?

I sometime leave the car and forget to lock it, this would ensure that it's automatically locking it if doesn't detect the fob. But I can see the problem if the car can't detect the fob sometimes even when it's in range.

the only safety feature we realize today is if you unlock the doors and you don't open the door, in time the doors will relock automatically.

honestly, it's not a big deal that you sometimes forget to lock your door, it's not a chronic problem is it? as long as you don't leave items of value in plain view, no one should enter your car or try your door handle, right?

(yes, i realize i live in ks lol)

In my BMW, there is a menu item in the iDrive to where you can control the locking features:

Set to autolock after unlocking with keyfob if the door hasnt been open within X secs(you set the time), or NOT

Set to autolock after you go above a certain sped limit, or NOT

But, I don't think there is an option to where you can set to autolock once you leave the vehicle and have key/fob in hand.

The Lexus does this automatically by default.

This is default behavior for the Lexus IS w/manual transmission, and can be enabled for cars with automatics either as an LPS dealer settable option, or by pressing the right combination of buttons (it's in the manual).

you can set a timing for it to auto lock.. 30 secs 1 min or 2 mins after you left your car with no key detected. but that would require a TIS computer which the stealership has

^hmmm. sometimes i guess it is pesky to have to reach over and push the little button and every once in awhile, it doesn't lock and you have to push it twice. you know this for sure, this feature is in the TIS computer or is this something you've heard?
