Default Remote Start- Engine shut off

Do you guys believe if there are enough complaints they would somehow program the Remote start to not shut off the engine when entering the vehicle? I think it's a really stupid feature and although I know it is a "safety" most people carry their key fobs with them. The person won't get far and the car is normally locked. It frustrates me that it turns off when I enter it or unlock the doors. I really think there would be some sort of way for them to program it since they were able to turn off the remote start when people had it on their keys and only let them use it when they had Enform.

I wouldn't mind complaining but I remember I called in and asked if they could extend the time of 10 minutes start to 15-20min and were very adamant about it because of people who keep their cars in the garage to prohibit carbon monoxide build up. Honestly, this app is so quirky and they suck at developing it, I wouldn't count on them being able to do this.

You guys would have never survived the 70s. Even in the 80s you had to talk to people.

Toyota/Lexus is the last company I would expect to give in to such a request.

It's definitely some misguided thinking on Lexus' part. I had a rental Mustang that had remote start and it was extremely convenient. Why can't Lexus have remote start -> if key fob is nearby, allow user to get in (with the engine on) and press engine start to unlock the transmission. If no key fob, keep the doors locked. Auto shut off after 10 minutes.

100% Agreed. It's kinda embarrassing after walking passed all the non-remote start cars, opening the door & immediately explaining to curious onlookers why the car just shut off in the cold weather.

I honestly believe they just need to update the app as it feels outdated and fix the engine shutting off. I complained to them the message I got back was "The function of the vehicle shutting off when unlocking, is to prevent an undesired individual from entering and operating the vehicle." I mean normally someone would unlock it when they are close and the person would not get very far since they don't have the key fob and that is what I replied with and no response....yet.

This isn't a function of the app. It's a function of the remote start system as a whole. And Toyota is the only major manufacturer that configures their remote start system this way. It's a shame, but as others have said, Toyota isn't much for listening to its customers.
