My concern is running into this issue only after the basic warranty period has expired, as the TSB is only applicable during the basic warranty period. Seems to me, since it's a known defect with the mounting tabs, the TSB should be applicable to the defect (crack in mounting tabs), and not be time limited to the basic warranty.
One way Lexus will screw us! haha The current rust recall is for a certain amount of time as well I think.
4/27 I dropped off my car in the morning. In the afternoon, service adviser called me stating the part was ordered and will be installed the next day. He mentioned the tech removed the bumper and noticed it had aftermarket fog lights. It said sometimes it might be an issue with the warranty but he's going to process it anyway.
4/28 I received an email from another service adviser claiming there was a problem. Tech claims he noticed a crack underneath the headlight and cannot process the warranty. He attached an invoice for $1700+!!! Tech claims: 1. I was involved in an accident, cracking the headlight 2. The person who installed my jdm fogs removed the bumper cracking the headlight. Both are false!! I was never in an accident nor was the bumper ever removed except by Lexus Escondido!!! Tech claims even a small bump will crack the headlights. Keep in mind the fracture is way below the bumper. There is not a single scratch on the bumper! The only way it could be broken is if someone accidentally broke it. You can see from the photos the fracture is above the mounting bracket.
The dealer has not claim responsibility and even Lexus Corporate is siding with the dealer!! Anyone have any ideas? Everyone I've spoke to knows it's impossible for it to break unless someone was handling that area and the dealer is the ONLY one to be in that area!
The bumper was never removed though! I can understand their suspicion, but they were the only people to work on that area!

Unless there are cracks in that top mounting tab area, which was noted as having been revised by the TSB, the TSB would not apply.
As to how the damage shown in the pics happened, that is the unknown. Having had work done in that area, stands to reason dealer's assumption, as barring any purposeful deception, that would be my suspicion. Hard to know for sure...
