Default Headlight oxidation under warranty

I just noticed last week that one of my headlights has oxidation on the outside lens.

I didn't use any chemical or buff the headlight.

Funny thing is that this happened to my Driver side headlight only - Passenger side is fine.

Today, I was checking out other 2014 Lexus ES and found same issue on this vehicle (oxidation with scratch lines).

My vehicle is currently at Lexus for maintenance and I've asked my service advisor to see if Lexus can cover the headlight under the warranty.

Service advisor said that some one from Lexus corp needs to come down to check it out, but he thinks that it's regular wear/tear and won't be able to covered under the warranty.

Has anyone experience this issue and got it taken care under warranty?

I would suspect it is where you are parking and the angle of the sun. I've seen it before. I replaced the headlights in my daughter's Honda Civic for $50. You can't touch a GS headlight for triple that!

Mine have a little hazing across the top. I use a mild polishing compound on mine to get the haze off. It lasts a few weeks to a few months. If you can fine a UV protectant that will slow it down.

My car sits in garage at home and underground parking lot at work. It barely sits under the sun.

Besides, it's only LT headlight doing it. It's odd....

I have oxidation on the drivers side like yours and the passenger side is perfect. My car is garage parked and structure parked 99% of the time. I talked to the service advisor about mine and it is considered wear and tear and not covered.

It is unlikely they will replace that under the CPO warranty but you should hear them out. IMHO, if its still under the 4yr/50k bumper to bumper warranty, it should be addressed since its a defect that affects the overall integrity of the lens...this same thing started happening to my CPO IS350 back in 2014 but there was a TSB about the interior of the IS headlamp bubbling under certain conditions. Because my headlight showed the "bubbling" of the interior, they replaced the lenses for free under the TSB/warranty period.

If there is any type of TSB out there for the GS headlamps it might be helpful to find/show them if yours falls into the TSB. If not, i'm curious to know how corporate responds to you...

Mother's Mag Wheel polish and DA polisher. After haze is removed protect with UV block. I use AMMO Skin.

There's a bunch of YouTube videos showing this method.

Yeah, Lexus just called and said that it is considered as wear & tear and won't be covered under warranty. That sucks
