Default Idle surging when cold

Now that it's getting colder in the Midwest have any of you experienced your idle bouncing on cold starts for the IS250? It does not do it immediately when you start the car but after 2-3 minutes the idle will actually go up just slightly and bounce up and down within a range of about 100 RPMS. Car drives fine and as it warms up the behavior subsides...any thoughts on this??

I get the same thing here in WI. But once your temperature is up, then it will drop

I think this is quite common as my BMW does it too.

yep.. sounds pretty normal. cold weather hit NYC and my Acura has the same idle characteristics you're writing about.

I just thought it was odd...we have had quite a few cold days and some days the idle will actually go up and start bouncing for awhile before it begins to go down and some days it will start high and lower as it should once the car begins to warm up...maybe I should just move to a warmer climate

it's - 22 degrees up here in Canada. rpm jumps usually for a minute or so. once car starting to warm engine is fine. it usually happen once in awhile if temperature drops. also notice digital gauge slow to response on start up.

Test the effects of having your HVAC on and off. I noticed when on, RPMs go up about 100 whether the AC is on or not. I only turn it on when the engine is at least a quarter warmed up.
