Default Rough Idle

Not sure if this is normal so I've found that my car is idling very low in rpm's and feels like the car is shivering along with me! (hint: its really cold here) I took a very short video and not sure if you all need longer but yeah. I'm taking it in tomorrow but wanted to know if anyone has experienced this.

It's negative temps and -30F windchill in Chicago. I have not experienced any rough idle in the cold. If anything, the idle goes up in the cold. I find the car really wants to launch hard in the cold from the higher idle unless I put her in eco mode.

Surprisingly, no I have not experienced this. It's been about 10f here NM when I go out to start my car and all has been normal and great every time I've started it.

In MN, last couple days it was below zero and wind chill was -5 to -10 in the afternoon's and temp was around 0F when I started the car and no shivering. Just a little bit of rough idle for 1st minute and then gradually the idle was getting quieter. I see your temp gauge is normal in the video and I haven't noticed the jerk/shivering either in cold or warm as the gauge raises. In the Morning's it was -25 to -30 wind chill but in my well insulated garage it was 25F and no issues there as well during the first start. FYI: My ODO reading is 2000 miles now. All my observations are in ECO mode.

However, I test drove a used 2014 GS F Sport with 24K miles from poquetauto.com couple months ago when it was around 50F and I felt the car was shivering even though temp guage was normal.

Maybe it's your battery getting weak! With the bass pumping like that, it's sucking lot's of current! LOL! Get your battery checked when the car is cool.

My guess is the photo was taken shortly after filling the tank and doing a short drive home that included a lot of idling at stop signs and lights.

No usually thats the average for the car since last reset by user manually. Its never reset after refueling. My average on my car is a consistent 24.6 mpg and this number does not change even after refueling. Either something is wrong with OPs car that causes low mpgs or he just reseted that himelf before he made the video.

Additionally if he had refueled his car then his cruising milage would no hav been so low. 177miles till empty is too low after a refueling unless he is really only getting 5mpg. His cruisng milage after refueling should be at least 300+ miles

Nope gas tank wasn't full it was maybe near half a tank. It really just started happening I'm dropping it off today so hopefully they don't try to blame it on the exhaust.

I believe the cruising range is calculated on the fly based on how much gas is in the tank and the current mpg. As mileage economy increases it seems to extend the cruising range. Still 5mph shoudlnt be posted after some miles are put back on the car, depending on driving conditions of course.

Good luck at the dealer, I will be very curious to hear the cause..

Did this start after you changed the engine cover? Maybe something got loose.

Yeah after I looked over your mod list I was thinking, something got knocked out of whack or cut. I'm guessing an O2 sensor is missing, cooked, shorted, or otherwise dead. That would lead to a rich fuel mix (or too lean) causing idle problems and killing mileage.

Anyone want to place bets? GL with your car bro. I'm sure the dealer will slap the obd2 reader on it and have an answer in an hour.
