Default [SOLVED] TPMS Sensor serial numbers keep getting lost by Body Control Module

2007 IS350

I got all four TPMS sensors replaced about a year ago, and having an issue recently whereby I'm getting a check system light and tire pressure light come on at the same time.

I've taken it to my Lexus specialist and he says that all four serial codes are disappearing from the Body Control Module at the same time.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Has anyone cycled through the TPMS switch settings? On the left of the steering wheel. Meaning you have primary set, and secondary set.

If done mostly they're saved on the primary set. If you switch to secondary there is nothing stored there. Just something to be aware of.

Yep, unfortunately not the easy fix I'd hoped for when I realized it stores two sets of tires!

What brand are the sensors?

So I'm assuming they programmed the sensor's to Main, and 2nd?

If so I would try to initialize both sets with correct tire pressure in the morning. Inflate all tires to door jam pressure specs. Then initialize both sets to the pressure. Then just set back to main if the light clears. Again I'm assuming the codes get lost because of the system check light maybe. Don't try to set pressure in hot temps it needs to be set in the morning while sitting over night. Preferably in around at a 70 temp should be good.

There is a ton of threads on TPMS. Nothing seems to point to your particular case.

I think they would've just programmed to main but good question.

I'll give the initializing a shot and report back. Thanks for your responses, much appreciated!

Not saying that it’s for sure your issue but for whatever reason on Toyota/ Lexus we have had random issues where the initialization of new sensors doesn’t take. Immediately After the sensors have been programmed into the ECU without turning the car off all 4 sensors need to be rescanned so they send a signal to the ECU. Not saying this is your issue but worth a try.

Techstream shows this data.
App OBD Fusion with the Lexus PID pack does not atm support reading pressure data or sensor ID. Other handheld tools may work, but IDK.

Thank you, I'll give this a shot and see if it works!

Default Solved

We have a solution!

As per response from @lexo98 above:

Immediately after the sensors have been programmed into the ECU without turning the car off all 4 sensors need to be rescanned so they send a signal to the ECU.

This clears the check system warning for good.

Previously, just reprogramming the sensor IDs would clear the check system warning but it would inevitably come back within 24hrs or around 35-40 miles. Have now driven a couple hundred miles and it's been about 10 days and still all clear.
