I went to a tire shop today to reprogram 1 new TPMS because they broke my previous one while they were dismounting/mounting a tire they patched. So, they install the sensor and the check system light and low tire light is gone. I'm content and I drive away. About 5-6 hours later the check system light turns on, again. Does anyone know how to fix it?

TIA
ByoungWoo

BTW, I'm seriously considering making a, "Pipe Bomb" or trying out the zip-tie method and taking out all my TPMS'.

You will probably need to bring your car to the dealer and have them program the sensor to your car. The shop you went to probably does not have the toyota/lexus equipment that hooks up to your car in order to program the sensor(s). (Just a guess).

If they do have the appropriate equipment, then it just might be that you actually have 1) low pressure in one of the tires, 2) sensor was not properly initialized, or 3) TPMS is set to set 2 instead of MAIN.

I would definitely take it to the dealer. I had a couple TMPS sensors fail, and got the same messages. It only took the dealer about 30 mins to diagnose the problem.

yea the tireshop should not have the equipment to program the sensor unless they are an authorize shop for lexus.

like everyone else says...there is a serial number on each sensor that needs to be program in. let the tire shop know that you'll be taking your car to the dealer for that, because you'll be charge for it.

This topic has been covered many times before, next time please search first. Now since I'm in the mood to type today ...unless that tire shop has the $8k scanner, they can't register your new sensor. You'd have to go to a dealer for that. Call around, dealer charges vary greatly for TPMS registration. You can even do it at a Toyota dealership which will likely be much cheaper than any Lexus dealership.

Cost me $60 to get mine reporgrammed when I had to replace one of the TPMS sensors. As most of the rest have said..its a Toyota/Lexus thing why most tire shops can't do it.

if its installed already and you dont have the serial numbers.... better hope the dealership has the tool to read the numbers over the air without dismounting.

I also got mine off ebay, the lights came on about 1 week and 200+ miles later.

I think it's supposed to go off after 25 or 50 miles. Mine went off around then when I got new TPMS sensors. If you got the sensors installed at a Lexus dealership, they probably already programmed them in... I called Westminster, Newport, and Longo Lexus to get a quote. They all wanted an hour's worth of labor to do it. I even told them that I already had the serial #'s. Try to get the sensors programmed when you're in for service. That way they might throw it in for free since you're already there getting ripped off.
