Default Corroded Side Mirrors Pushing & Cracking Plastic Housing (Added Soundproofing Doors!)

I had to cut off the front piece to modify the bottom part so that the metal can stick out without pushing the housing. I will use black silicone to fill in the gap.

The drivers side base is also cracking, probably due to corrosion. I had greasy fluid coming out of the mirrors staining the doors for a few years.

Anyone know where to get cheap mirror assemblies?

The metal base inside is cracked and has pushed out the plastic causing it to crack.

Corroded metal is split. Mirror is still sturdy and not loose.

After cutting out the bottom part of the housing near the front.

upgrade to newer model years with signals. just got to run a single wire to turn signals and probably cut and rewire the harness (different plugs) for the motors.
aftermarket set is like $170 on ebay, just need to get them painted.

OEM used is like $200 each.

Thanks. Mine already have signals.

I'm in Canada. Looks like the exchange rate is pretty bad right now at $1USD = $1.41CAD.

Try source an used one on ebay uk. Search for "lexus is 220 250 wing mirror". You could probably find one in decent shape for around $100-150 Canadian, with power folding as a bonus. ;-).

Thanks but a lot of them do not have the signal indicator. Ones that do are expensive.
Anyhow, here is the mirror after the silicone job. Note the mirror is in the folded position in case you're wondering why it looks weird with respect to the base.

Is this a common problem with our cars?

Does anyone else have/had this problem?

Did anyone buy from www.dcretiv.com before?
I did a search on the domain name and it comes up as being in Texas.
The site looks shady though.

Hey everyone, I replaced the side mirrors with aftermarket ones and I soundproofed the doors at the same time.

Samething hapenned here in Quebec...
My right mirror internal structure is completely corroded and fell apart on the road. And the left one is better but many of the structure is gone.
I bought a new OEM one and Toyota corrected the problem by painting the inner structure!
I'm currently trying to find a left OEM mirror with a painted structure. (not easy!)

Right mirror

Left mirror

Right mirror new

How's ordering from UK ebay? I'm thinking of ordering some things on there for my car, but I am wary of ebay in general.

Captaine,

How much was the OEM mirror?

If you bought the right one from the dealer, why not buy the left from them?

At the dealer the price tag is over 600CAD for a silver one.
I found it on ebay. Came from North Carolina and cost me about 300CAD at my door.

The challenge is that I have the Luxury package on my IS so I need a unit with all the options (heat, auto-dim, memory) and they are very rare. Over that, I want a painted structure unit instead of a bare aluminium one that come from a crashed car...

Well, if you don't have the Luxury pack on your IS, the mirror is a lot cheaper. You can check at www.lexuspartsdirect.ca. They have decent prices. I bought a lot of parts from them.

I got my mirrors from the states and got a cross border company to bring them over the border.

I got one mirror from Auto and Art, and one from CarParts.com. I don't know if they have the luxury pack or if they have a painted structure.

Can also check 1A Auto.
