I have a 2007 Lexus IS 250. Woke up this morning and my low tire sensor warning was on. I attempted to inflate myself but the machine at the gas station was having problems (I found out after the fact) so it deflated even more. Took my car to my tire shop who inflated all tires to PSI settings on driver door. Even after driving to work and resetting TPMS manually, the low tire sensor warning is still on. What could this be? A nail or leak was not located
Check the tire pressure to see if it's low. If it's low again, then there is a leak. If it's not low, then maybe the TPS needs to be adjusted -- I think it's in the manual.
May have to initialize the tire pressure system, by using the "satellite switch", located to right of steering wheel. Unsure if pressure to be set will be shown (35 psi front / 38 psi rear);
It takes time to synchronize the TPMS. A couple of start and stop, eventually it will turn off. Or otherwise ignore it and it will turn off. Happened to me recently. After tire repair at Costco, my TPMS turned on, I suspected that my tire was not repaired.
Thanks mandyfig. When toggling through settings using the satellite button, is there a setting that shows or allows individual tire psi (35 front / 38 Rear etc.), to be set for each tire monitored by the TPMS? Or are the psi settings of 35 / 38 already set?
@ELexis The TPMS system in our cars do not show individual tire pressure amounts. The system bases the correct pressure from the amount of pressure in the tires when you initialize the system. Our TPMS is as simple and basic as it gets. When you fill the front tires @35PSI and rear tires @37PSI our TPMS records those amounts. When the pressure drops a certain amount in one of the tires it triggers the warning lamp. Say the TPMS triggers when the pressure drops 5 psi (this is just an example). If your tires were initialized at 35 in front and 37 in rear the sensor will trip the light when one of the front tires drops to 30 psi or one of the rear tires drops to 32 psi.

TopNotchIN, thank you for providing the additional information regarding the TPMS system installed. I appreciate it! If I understood correctly, ,would it be a good idea to perform the initialization procedure as outlined in owner's manual, soon after having tires inflated to the correct recommended psi (35 Front / 38 rear)?
ELexis, yes that's correct. Just wait for the sensors to complete the cycle of initiation. The TPMS lights will eventually go away. I always have my tires serviced at Costco and they refurbish the TPMS with a kit whenever they replace the tires. If you are a Costco member it is the best place to get your TPMS sensors replaced anyway. Good luck.
@ELexis You can initialize the TPMS right after inflating your tires or you can wait. The main idea is to have the tires at the correct pressure and initialize the system while the tires are cold. When you drive your tires will heat up from the friction produced by the tires' resistance to the road surface. That heat will raise the tire pressure slightly because hot air expands. If you have an air pump, fill your tires and do the TPMS procedure before you take the car for a drive. If you have to go to the gas station to fill your tires, go directly after that car has sat for awhile so that there is minimal heat build up in the tires. Remember to adjust your tire pressure according to the weather in you area as well. Why? Because cold air will lower your tire pressure. If you will experience some cold temperatures you will need to adjust the tire pressure to compensate. For example; the current weather is 50 degrees but it will be 20 during the evening. You will need to add 3psi to your tires recommended pressure. Tires lose 1psi for every 10 degree drop in temperature. Just check your local weather and see what the lowest temperature you will experience that week. Adjust the pressure according to the current temperature and the lowest temperature you will experience. Take the number and adjust pressure accordingly. Hope that helps!
Thank you for following up and confirming procedure TopNotchIN, I appreciate it.
I was concerned after adjusting air to the correct psi, driving for a few weeks and receiving the following;
Adjusted the air and received it again. Both times I did not go through the initialization procedure, which I only realized after reviewing the manual. PSI must have been set lower than the recommended settings however, as you stated, there has been changes in temperature that may have added to the issue and causing the warning light. After recent adjusting trip for air, I added the correct amount all around and performed the initialization process as outlined in the manual, and not light since. For a while, I was concerned that perhaps on of the new tires, TPS sensor or wheel had become defective, not realizing to perform the procedure after inflating tires to correct psi.
My TPMS showing up the same as above. I will do a re-initiation procedure. Started to act up after a trip for a rotate-balance and flat repair from Costco.
When both the following warning lights are ON with "LOW TIRE" displayed in center multi-information display / cluster;
Does it indicate that there's an issue with part of the TPMS system (defective sensor etc.), or just that the tire PSI has fallen below the predetermined PSI set by factory due to change in temperature, slow leak due to tire or wheel etc.?
Understood, thanks for the follow up nosurprise, I appreciate it. Have received the warning lights with LOW TIRE message often over the past months. The temperature has fluctuated and may be the cause for low pressure. I've not encountered this as much with previous vehicles equipped with TPMS. Am going to add an additional 2 PSI to front (37) and rear (40), then perform the initialization procedure immediately afterwards.
