Default power mirror with auto tilt issues

So my passenger side mirror is starting to give me issues. I had it on the tilt setting for reverse and only the driver side responded. When I try adjusting the passenger side mirror it only moves left and right. It wont tilt up or down. Anyone else with this problem? Anything I can do to resolve this?

Try moving it by hand, it might be stuck.

This is typical. As jgr7 said, with your hand, gently push it all the way up, then all the way down a couple of times. After that, it should go down ok when you put it in reverse. You will probably need to do this every few months. Whatever you do, DON'T WD-40 the mirror mechanism. Trust me--it doesn't work...

Thanks for the reply guys. I did what guys said and it worked. But its not a permanet fix. It worked normally for a few cycle then back to getting stuck.

I complained to my dealer about this the entire warranty period, and had no success. But maybe you have a bigger problem--does your mirror get stuck when you try to adjust up/down with the inside controls?

Yes. And it's only the passenger side. When adjusting with the control panel it will move left and right but not up and down. Also in tilt mode when in reverse only driver side tilt.

Any chance you are under warranty?

We replace them fairly regularly. There's no other fix for the problem unless you know how to fix internal electronic issues yourself. There are no parts available for the mirrors other than the mirror itself and maybe the glass.

If you can keep it working for a while by pusing on it, go for it. The price sounds about right.

the tilt motors in the mirrors are known to be pretty faulty. I've turned off the feature all together, and only turn them back on when i need to adjust my mirrors.

The pushing method has stopped working for me. The auto tilt and up/down adjustment no longer work for me. That's even when I push up and down manually.

Then you're gonna need a mirror, unfortunately

Mine only tilt partially, although they both tilt the same distance. I'm not sure if it's the normal height?

My TSX mirrors tilt so I can see the actual road markings so I can check if I'm in the centre of the parking space. My IS doesn't, it's just above the line - does that sound right?
