BTW, Dx3

I have received your screen, had it since last night, took me a day to get it since I had it shipped to my mothers house (didnt trust usps to deliver to my apartment, they always mess up)

Left it over night last night drying out and today it will have its last coating, hopefully I will be able to ship it back out to you tomorrow.

Text me so I can send you some pictures.

Yep, took it all wrong. To get good pricing, I'll need to buy a bunch of these. If I buy a bunch of them, I'll need to start a business repairing them - which would be fine, except I've already got more things to do than I have time to do them, so, I'll address this when I need to, not right now.

If there really are folks getting $500 to fix these things, maybe I should reconsider?

Ok my mistake then sorry about that

I understand where you come from now. I too thought they would only sell in bulk. I double checked the link and it said from 1-500 pieces, perhaps they might ship out just one? I doubt it though. I'll try to somehow contact them and hope they respond.

It would be great since so many members here are suffering from this issue. Most without warranty.
Personally I don't do this on the side or charge anything, can't speak for others. I was asked for help from Dx3 and I let him know I'd be willing to give it my best shot since I was able to fix mine, with out payment of any kind. If he wants to that will be up to him.

Hope it works!

I tried this fix myself and I guess I didn't do it right. Wasn't successful. Anyone in Texas that has had success and willing to help a brother out?

I dont charge anything guys, I simply ask that you ship it to my house and ill give it a shot. Please provide a return shipping label. I am doing this out of free will so please dont ask me to pay for shipping. No guarantees but like I said I dont intend on chargin anyway. There is a guy who does this with no guarantee either and charges $400, I am ok with just helping fellow members.

Well guys, things didn't turn out quite as I had hoped unfortunately. I got the screen back in and unfortunately it still wasn't working. Vroomin and I have tried to troubleshoot to no avail. While I was putting it all back together I noticed this rubber looking spade thing and have no idea what it does/goes to. It seems kinda weird to just be sitting there. Anyone recall what it is/ is for?

First picture shows the location, second shows the rubber (black) looking spade thing. Thanks guys

Anyway in another thread someone posted a link to a replacement screen. There is no telling if it is legit and I am not aware of anybody who bought it. They're selling it for close to $400. Here's the link:

Has anyone bitten the bullet and bought one of these yet? Or do I have to be the guinea pig

The fix didn't work unfortunately and now I am at a loss as to what to do. The car is pretty far out of warranty and now the Nav has been "Circuit Writer'd" I am guessing they wouldn't cover it anyway...

Thanks,
Jonny

Well, for anyone still keeping up with this thread. I gave in and purchased the new screen from the seller in China on eBay. It arrived within 3 days. Here they are side by side

If you look at the part numbers it is the same part number.

Put it in and it works with no issues. An expensive fix, but if the circuit writer trick doesn't work then at least we know this does...

Dx3, thanks for being the guinea pig! At least it's cheaper than letting the dealership touch your car.

Greg - glad to help man I've become quite the pro at pulling all of it apart. Last night I got it down to the nav unti pulled out of the car and then the actual Nav screen separated in less than 10 minutes

I got the seller down to $320 shipped... which is pretty pricey but at least it all works again.

I wouldn't call $320 expensive compared to the dealer. That's about the same as one good tire.
