I see some people that have black lens tail lights. Anyone have that and how did you do it and how much did it cost?

I'm looking to do it myself if it's possible.

Aerotect has the vinyl smoked tails, and they do look good. It wasn't completely dark to the point where a driver couldn't see the red in the lights, but it looks good IMO. Can't say the same in the eyes of the cops, especially in CA . Are you looking to spray or use an overlay?

I don't understand why so many get a fix it ticket and end up fixing the tails.
I always fight it in court. I have a light meter that measures light & I compare my light output to a stock cars light output.
I've won 2 out of 2 tickets.

That is a good idea, if more people knew this then they will fight it in court.

Even though I have a set for sale as I posted above...
Here is the correct way to paint your tails. Don't use, for the love of God, real paint. Use night shade paint. It allows the taillight to come through the paint.

I had Aerotect smoked tails (vinyl) LIKED the look, the seams on the quater pannel side of the light looked like crap IMO. Product was installed correctly, nothing against Aerotect. Took the vinyl off and gonna have them painted. Any one thinking about vinyl save yourself time and money paint em and be done.

People do it all the time, don't jynx it. They don't care as long as it's not completely blacked out. And it also states that it has to be visible from a certain distance.

We're not modifying the LIGHTS.
We're modifying the lens that resides over the lights.
No one is touching lights here.
