So I had a 2007 IS250 which I leased, had to turn it in last month and decided to buy one this time around since I LOVE these cars. I bought a 2010 Starfire Pearl and can you beilve 2 weeks later..actually a litlte more than 2 weeks Im driving, a huge rock flies up and BAM !!! Puts a rather large chip with 2 lines coming out right away. Im SOOOOOO PISSSEDDD !! Anyway, I call safelight, and they come today and attempt to fix it. He looked at it was like yeah thats kinda rough. He said we can fix it but it wont be perfect but it will def prevent it from spreading and having you replace the whole winshield.

So about 25 mins later all done, he was right, i can still see it but because I am looking for it... but its ALOT better, but I'm still upset. 3 years with the other IS and nothing like it.... 2 weeks with the new one and bam... oh well.

anyone on here ever have a chip/crack repaired and it failed to prevent it from making you replace the entire windshield ?

 

I had to replace mine after an year owning it. A rock hit at the edge of my windshield and it spread overnight by over a foot...just my luck

 

same thing happened to me man, had my car less than 4 months and had a rock from a semi-truck hit my windshield. :-/

 

Wow, same thing here as well. I had only been driving my car for a few weeks and I got a big rock chip. Insurance covered it and Safelite filled it in.. there's only a slight mark now that's only visible when it catches the light.

Funny thing is, I haven't had a single rock chip since that one! Knock on woodgrain. Hopefully it's the same for you!

 

Bought a new Benz in '04. 2 months later a truck kicked up a rock and cracked my windshield. So I feel your pain. Got Safelite to fix the crack,but about 6 mos later it started spreading so I had them replace the windshield. They did deduct the repair charge from the replacement bill...like they said they would.

same thing happened to me as well within a month of purchasing the car. first time i've had a rock hit my windshield and crack it. i called up the dealer and they wanted $2000 to have it fixed. i ended up calling safelite to get it done for $200. the safelite glass doesn't come with a lexus logo on the glass and the glass doesn't seem to be as well made as OEM but for $200 i can't complain.

im waiting for a chip in my windshield to get bigger so i can get it replaced. only 100 dollar deductible.

 

I just purchased my IS about 5 months ago. in this period I had the windshield repaired at first for a rock chip($105). about a month after the chip repair had a new chip which spread immediately and had the whole windshield replaced(200 deductible). Not happy with my windshield at all as it has cost me a unnecessary amount of money.

 

Geez, I guess I'm not the only one. I will replace my window but not just yet. Dont want to have to replace the windshield so soon. uughhh ...

Yeah man, I had safelite fix it for $53.00. Doesn't look as good but better than what it looked like before. I hope it lasts for a few years. And thanks, same to you,

uughh that sucks, well hopefully no one here on this board has to deal with it again.
And I pray it doesn't start spreading even though it was fixed but who knows its never the same.

 

I went to the stealership when my windshield was cracked, they said it would cost about $1500 to get it replaced with the OEM one. :-/ Straight crack prices bro!!!

 

Yeah they told me the same thing, they said if I ever had to replace the windshield they would deduct the repair from the total. Nice to see they keep there word.

 

Damn, $1500.00 and $2000 prices, seriously there prices are off the charts. Honestly, I think I will do safelite as others here have done. $298 vs 1500-2000, nuff said
