Default Idle Vibration

Wondering if anyone has experienced this and had it fixed? My '08 IS 250 with 13K miles periodically after warm up has the idle drop to 500-600 RPM accompanied by a vibration in the steering wheel. Lexus Service had a Lexus Rep check it out who saw it happen and says it is "normal" but that they will look into it further as apparently I am not the only one with this. If it was a 4 cylinder, i would say maybe it is normal but I have never had a 6 do this including my previous ES 300 or various Acuras- disconcerting.

Mine does the same thing when comes to a red light. I took it to the dealer, and they said they needed to collect the data and report to the lexus. They will get back to me soon. still waiting for response.

It's not normal. But it may be a common problem. Something's amiss with the fuel delivery by the sound of it (computer, sensor, etc).

Don't let up on them - the car should idle faster than this and as smooth as a baby's behind! Mumble something about "emmission system failure" and "I wonder if the California Air Resources Board will be able to help"............................. (are you in California or Canada?)

I just accepted it as normal. My 2002 TL-S does this also. But then again, it did many more weird things.

Does the idle stay at 500-600 rpm or jump back up to normal? After my car has sat for a long time and I start it the next morning, it idles very high, then drops when warmed up. When it comes down to normal, sometimes I feel a slight bump as it settles to the normal rpm. Every car I've had does this, so I am used to it. Sounds like yours is doing something worse...

So on this subject. WHILE my car is warming up to it's optimal operating temperature. My idle usually sits at 500-600 at a stop light. But I think you also need to factor in who uses the A/C 24/7 and who doesn't. A/C will bump the idle up.

change your oil maybe?

It happens to me after installing the aftermarket exhaust. once the engine warms up it goes away some but not 100%

My car is stock and the vibration shows up regardless of gas level or if the oil was recently changed or not. Vibration with low idle show up periodically when fully warmed up, no A/C running (does not happen when A/C on as idle appears slightly bumped up).
J Hao- which dealer in CA is looking into it- I am going to Colliseum in Oakland and they have been dealing with Lexus western service rep on this.
