sorry to bring up an old thread, but was wondering if the peeps who installed the vled 4 smt 2w led in their puddle lights ever ran into any issues with blown fuses, etc. now that it has been a few months...

so i just installed my new led puddle lights, must say they look great. got the passenger side installed with no problem. the drivers side doesnt seem to want to close all the way. it wants to leave a gap in the plastic housing once you screw in the 2 screws. any suggestions or anything that may possibly help? here are some pics.

There's a plastic piece that looks like a clip where you open up the housing. Make sure that it's aligned with the other side when you close it.

I seem to remember that too. Two little plastic slots thingys that need to be aligned to keep the housing straight with the rest of the assembly. It was extremely forgiving by snapping it back into alignment. Lexus clips and snaps are robust. I have not broken anything doing my LED mods and I have done a GX470 with no assistance from that forum as well as my IS.

Just did this mod... super easy and done just like the DIY. First side took me 15 minutes because the housing came apart weird and eventually I realized I needed to bend a plastic tab in order for the housing to fit back together... other side took all of 5 minutes.

Thanks again CL members! Now I've done interior domes, door lights, puddles, trunk, reverse light LED, DRL LED, parking light LED... final lighting mod will be fogs. unless I find someone local to swap out all my interior lights in the dash!

Wow just did this mod out of pure impulse yesterday. I was getting sick of my 4 smt flanks in the parking lights not matching my low beams so I took those out and stuck them into the puddle light. I was surprised how great they look in person.

I did have some trouble putting the housing back together, but I found out I was being too gentle. I got frustrated and shoved it back in with some force. That is the only way I got it to match up perfectly and I didn't break anything.

man... for me, it wasn't easy as it looked. I have 10 IS250 and took about 30 mins to replace the first side mirror.. took most of the time to put stuffs back since it wouldn't close like i expected. However, 2nd side mirror took only 5 mins. My friend with 09 STI was really liked the bright LED!
I highly recommend!!
