Materials Needed

  • Philips screwdriver
  • Flat plastic card or trim removal tool

Step 1 - Remove door panel

Remove the door panel to gain access to the bolts holding the side mirror in place. The door panel is held in place by plastic clips. The easiest way to remove one is to use a plastic trim removal tool, which are cheap and readily available in many automotive stores or online. Pry around the panel carefully so you don't lose any of the little plastic clips, taking your time. Once the panel is free you can remove any wiring harnesses attached to the panel and set it to the side.

Step 2 - Remove broken side mirror assembly

Once you remove the door panel, you can gain access to the three screws which hold the side mirror assembly to the door, as well as the wiring harness that plugs into the assembly. Detach the wiring harness and loosen the three screws holding the assembly to the door, then remove the assembly and place it aside.

Step 3 - Install new side mirror assembly

Install new side mirror assembly by attaching it using the three screws you removed from the old assembly. Be careful not to scratch your door when setting the new mirror into place. Attach the wiring harness. Reattach the wiring harnesses that you removed back on the door panel, and test the light and power folding function of the new side mirror. Re-install the door panel by carefully pressing it back into place, taking care not to break any of the little plastic clips.
