So what do you guys recommend to do 30k service if not at the dealer? I hate to say it but I don't trust independent shops either. I know they'll charge a lot less but they might end up scratching our alloy wheels or what not and won't take blame for it. Are every dealers charging $1000 for 30k service? Someone else must have done that service here at the dealer. Someone fill us in?

Everyone you need to keep in mind they did a brake job. If they had only 5-10% pad wear left the rotors are probably beyond specs of having them turned. So they put on brand new rotors and those are not cheap at the dealer my guess 600 for all 4.
Last time I paid to have my brakes worked on my Z28 it was 480 for the front brakes with new rotors.

hello everyone, my car is about to be 30k miles very soon, so far i've been just doing oil change, and alignment on my car. They said that one of my tire is not allign properly. It cost me about $200. Anyway back to the main topic, I'm really curious about going to the dealer especially that i wanted to do a major service in my car. Now im thinking that i can just go toyota dealership and let them deal with all the maintance, thats going to inlcude my oil change. As far the tire is concern, im actually repalcing my new front tires tom. its only going to cost me $350 including the balncing and mounting... its going to be to different style but still potenza. please have some thought on our situation thnx

90K maintenance @ Lexus
Well I just supassed 90K miles on my '01 GS430 L-tuned, and I'm dreading going to the dealer to see a $1,500 potential bill. I've been trying to find out what's included in their 90K mile maintenance - - does anyone have any idea? I know they replace the timing belt as the primary task, but I typically avoid dealerships since they have high markups and it's usually a rip off.
But am I supposed to give into this ideal since I now own a Lexus? WTF? My stimulus check won't even cover this maintenance. What do you all think? I can't find a link that details out the 90K mile maintenance.
Thanks!

well, i am at 28k right now, so will be visiting my dealership soon. I got a Maintenance schedule pamlet, and it stated that at 30K, it will be around $293.07 for Maintenace C (which consist of Replacing: A/C filter, brake fluid, engine air filter, engine oil and filter; measure thickness of brake rotors, retorque axle shaft flange bolt, road test, inspect fuel lines & vapor system, inpsect fuel tank cap gasket, and Included Inpection 1 which inspects ball joints, dust covers, body, brake lines & hoses, diff oil, axle shaft boots, engine coolant, exhaust pipes & mounting, rack & pinions assy, steering linkage & boots). All that for $300. But i guess replacing brakes cost around $800, so the price was fair ( i guessed).

You might want to ask them "how much for the 30k" and not go by with the price for the 15k service. I believe the 30k is what they call "major service" So i'm guessing its not a the typical oil change type of service.
