Default NON ML DVD player with nav

New owner here. Just picked up a like new used 07 is350 with nav but no mark levinson. Is there any hack or software upgrade to allow the stock nav to play dvds. Was really bummed when I put it in a dvd and found out it did not play them-then i did a little research and found out the ml was needed to play dvds--any help would be appreciated.

Non ML Nav does not come with DVD drive, only CD changer so you need ML to play DVD movie.

Yes welcome to CL and what you will find here is that most will not answer your questions if they have already been beaten to death in another thread. Do a search before posting and if you then can not find anything on the topic in question post a new thread. Otherwise people just ignore you. I know from experience.

You can install an ML head unit in the car, and it will work with the regular amp.

I have an ML head unit in my car, it still doesn't play DVDs. It's the changer that matters.

Easiest way is to buy a portable DVD player, and sit it on the passenger seat.

Well... I would think the ML headunit for a non-Nav car is different, since you are missing the whole NAV Screen needed for Video feed and audio components.

The nav screen and head unit are seperate pieces though. It seems unlike they'd make a seperate ML head unit for non-nav cars, given how incredibly rare such cars are.

I believe the head unit and changer are seperate parts, so they just retain the CD changer rather than use a DVD changer for non-nav ML systems. All the speakers/amps are the same in both setups, so I'd be surprised if the head unit itself is different.

Someone with schematics/part #s can confirm or refute perhaps?
