Same thing happened to my RX 300 about 2 months ago. Car parked in front of my house and broke my window then stole the radar. Smart thing was they didn't open the door so the alarm didn't go off. I don't understand why Lexus doesnt add interior motion sensors with the alarm.

Anyways, now I hide the radar detector everytime I get out of the car.

Sorry to read about this.
You mean to say that I shouldn't leave my radar detector attached to my front windshield in clear view of anyone passing by when I leave my car unattended??? I never would have thought to remove it so thieves would not be tempted to smash my window and grab it.

Thanks for the advice

same thing. Dont leave handphones, laptops and expensive accessories in the car. If you have to, leave it out of sight. Condolences to MattIS.

in my lifetime i have had about three radar detectors stolen from me. broke in by smashing the window. the fourth smash i had removed my radar detector so the thief didn't get anything. all of this happened over 10 years in minneapolis and suburbs.

now for at least 7 years here in kansas, no sight but it's not totally hidden either. i guess it has more to do with where you park you car, if i am not a home in the garage or at work in the garage, or some place busy like the airport parking lot, the v1 comes down for an extended parking period.

sorry to hear about your loss but i think even with a motion alarm the window would still be broken and most like the detector still taken.

Actually the radar wasnt entirely in plain sight. It high on the windshield so you would have to look up through the driverside window a little. I was parked in a garage so you cant see it from the front..

Actually I really hope they did pawn it. Apparently when you want to pawn a radar detector they take down the serial number and a drivers lisence and the police here have a pawn shop registry for stuff like that.

What if your radar detector is hardwired to the car

wow sorry MattIs that really sucks

Hopefully nothing was damaged due to the break-in and the paint or leather didn't get scratched up from the glass.
