I have a 2001 IS 300 and the car has been great and still is a great car but yesterday mid the check engine light came on. My trac control is off all of the time now and it blinks and the check engine light is on. Do you guys have any ideas what it could be. Please help out

The trac going off when the CEL is on is normal. Get yourself a code reader or take it in to the dealer or another mechanic to get the code diagnosed. My bet is it's an O2 sensor.

take it to autozone, they have a thingy that can tell you whats wrong, I think they do it for free since it takes only a second to plug in and get a reading.

Probably a failing sensor then. It'll come back.

It might have been your gas cap. If it ever comes back on, take it back to autozone and get the code scanned.

i know this was an old post, buuut like a good newbie i did my best to flip thru all the previously asked questions before throwin my duplicate into the mix.. that said, i cant really find an answer (or confirmation of a suggestion that worked) that helps me out.

i've got an '05 is300 with the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on and the TRAC CNTRL light blinking.. i do have a pretty dirty K&N air filter, so i'm gonna pick up the re-charge kit and fix that up, ~~~BUUUT i dont know if that will help (or if thats it in the 1st place).
since this problem sounds kinda common,
does anyone know:
1) if a dirty air filter would trigger these CEL & TRAC lights?
2) if a dirty/bad o2 sensor triggers this (seems to be a common suggestion) then how tough is it to clean/replace? location in the vehicle? expensive replacement parts?
3) any other suggestions on the source of the light?

i'lll be cruisin on down to autozone to try and get a quickee code read, but BIG THANX up front for the advice...
